The XB1 still has a ways to go to fix all my issues with it. Self-publishing is a HUGE deal, but it is nice that people are actually allowed to own their games, again.

I don't buy it, the game disc should be as simple as a key that "unlocks" the game whenever it's put in. You can install game discs onto your HDD, so I call foul on not being able to take your library and share it anywhere. They have servers housing the DL links for digital purchases and if you were to install a disc and someone wanted to play your game in your family, you should be allowed to prompt a download from their servers on a game you own.

I have the nagging suspicion that this might have something do with the EU basically classifying the XBox One as "spy technology" in its original form and openly pondering banning the thing.

This is the first time I've seen Microsoft do anything other than bury their heads in the sand when facing open criticism, so good on them I guess. Now this console cycle is competitive again, so I'm hopeful that Sony will respond by getting rid of their subscription multiplayer; that model is ancient and it needs to die.

I suppose they have to subsidize that $100 mark down somehow though. Six months is a long time, and I hope this isn't the first set of concessions we'll see made by either company.

Did this go in the Interview Dumptruck or the Dumpster?

They should put audio in the Interview Dumptruck and video into the Broadcast Dumpster.

At the end of teh interview to Marc say "Thank you...roger." It sure sounds like he says, "Roger" not Patrick.

My god...Microsoft don't care about anybody! WHEN WILL THESE MONSTERS STOP?!?

Awesome stuff Patrick!

I really hope that Microsoft does move forward with some of its more ambitious policies, regardless of what their stance on DRM and used game sales end up being.

It's a pity he can't talk freely, that last question could have been interesting. Microsoft speakingmen always sound so held back and careful in choosing their words

I'm glad that they reconsidered. I canceled my PS4 pre-order and pre-ordered my Xbox One as soon as I read Scoop's article.

And Microsoft catches its first stupid little fishy...

God damn it, Patrick is asking all the good questions but it sounds like they're just reading from a list of preselected answers.

Not possible. The one who has the disc can use it indefinitely now that you don't have to be online anymore. That would make it extremely easy to pirate games.

Since both consoles had issues in the current gen, you'd best keep an eye on the one you champion as much as the one you chumpion, because if you look at both parent companies track records, they have a patent on trust issues that no one should ignore, not even for fanboyism.

Unless I have they do a similar reversal on their Kinect policy--specifically the option to unplug the Kinect and sell it and still be able to use an XBone as a game console, or as I would prefer, never even have to pay money for the mediocre broken technology--I will not be buying the system.

He avoided answering almost every direct question with the traditional smoke screen tactics of boasting features that sound a lot like something mentioned in the question. We've come to accept from a politician, so MS does the same thing. It's unreasonable to treat anyone in this manner and expect loyalty.

Look at the Wii sales and popularity, most gamers do not want to have to move and shake their controller when they are playing a game, this is something that appeals to little children and the elderly. The Kinect is more of that mostly buggy technology demanding me to conform or be left behind.

Instead, I'm the one leaving it behind. Microsoft better drop some more of their ridiculous "required" policies if they really want to sell this machine.

"TO THE CLOUD!" - taco

My thoughts when Microsoft was laying down these policies, and focusing so much on "The Cloud" as a concept. 'Cause they had to be high as fuck if they thought they wouldn't have to flip-flop on these policies.
