@vinny nooooo I thought you were waiting with us PC guys :( I mean I COULD buy it tomorrow on a weaker system at a higher price, and then I COULD listen to this shittalk on the bus after I'd played for a couple of days.

Instead I will bookmark all of this for 6 weeks time. Enjoy, everybody :)

Everyone is so keen on avoiding information about this game and I sort of get it; but, honestly, I beat Dark Souls after watching Vinny play it and I think it made my experience better.

As someone who likes hearing about Dark Souls but has no real interest in playing it, this is pretty much perfect.

@vinny: The survibility stat and your % of equip load impacts the speed at which you can parry/roll and PUT UP YOUR SHIELD. If you want an instant shield up you'll have to reduce your equip load and/or put many points into survibility because it boost your agility (the speed stat)

1-I'm pretty sure the number of spawn points scrolls down because I'm almost full and not nearly at the end

2-Vinny, your equip load makes you put up your shield slower, remove your armor and you'll see the difference

Its a great idea its the part where they are slow to fire and he likes charging at you and shattering them that makes it a bit tricky.

While I would usually be all for this website turning into www.giantsouls.com, I can't play DS2 until late April and I'm going to attempt (and fail) to keep myself mostly spoiler free for once. So this podcast just serves to sit here and taunt me.

The bad thing is that I too have to wait till next month ... good thing is I can finally actually play Dark Souls ... I ordered DS2 just because the coverage on the site get me excited for it.

I've put over 11 hours into Dark Souls 2 so far. I've beaten four bosses (judging by their unique souls, there were a few others that didn't drop unique souls) and I have no fucking idea what they're talking about in the opening few minutes.

It's pretty amazing to me that Dark Souls 2 is so wide open. Pick a direction and go. Maybe I've done some areas out of order, maybe they did, but it kind of sucks that they're talking about some cool, killer shit and I'm stuck in the new Valley of Defilement/Blighttown. In a way Dark Souls 2 is like the Arkham City to the original's Arkham Asylum. Dark Souls 1 was a very interconnected game with levels often looping back in on themselves, while Dark Souls 2 is far more sprawling and open. That interconnected nature of the level design is still there, but it's less prevalent, I think.

I'm also finding myself running into every wall and swinging it with my giant fuck-off sized Greatsword. It's ruining the blade's durability but I have to know the secrets.

Early GOTY contender I'm thinking.

@izunadrop: @davekap: Why don't you guys just do what I did, get a month of gamefly for 10 bux, play through game that way, then get it later on PC?

That is, if I like it enough to actually buy it. Which, so far, might not be the case.

Very much looking forward to this Dark Souls II content. I'm with the GB guys; PC is the version I will probably play the most, but a month and a half was too long for me to wait on this one, so the PS3 version it is for now. Still a really solid experience, though.

I kinda agree with you, it will be fun to reach the bosses and areas they talk about and say "Oh THAT'S what they meant. Holy shit man, that's awesome!"

Also I've heard this game is over 60 hours long (compared to Demons Souls 25 hours and Dark Souls 40 hours) so I think we'll be allright :P

If you had told me giantbomb dot com would be to go to site for hot new dark souls content back when I had suffered through the Demon Souls quick look I would have slapped you. Not that I'm complaining it's great seeing you guys being as excited as I am.

Now if my PS3 didn't die on me I wouldnt have to avoid all info for a month. I guess it's all right since most of my friends are gonna get it on PC aswell so I'll have my little bubble of zeitgeist when it finally arrives.

@mister_v: Heh, from what I gather they recorded it at on of their desks with a pretty standard recording device. So no podcast quality :)

edit: I understand what you're talking about with that constant humming. Hmmm..
