Quick Look: Fez

Meh, think I'll pass on this one.

OK, the perspective stuff is really really awesome. It seems like it would take someone a long time to get that right and it did. Buuuuuuuuut overall this just looks ok, hell even a bit boring. 

The music is amazing

I am not sure if this game is underwhelming, or it's just Jeff's shitty attitude towards it that makes it seem dull and too simple.

Guys I think the drugs are starting to kick in.

Is anyone else having problems with viewing videos in progressive mode. I've let this one sit for an hour and it's still not finished fully loading. Normally they are instantaneous.

Can't fucking wait till Friday. My body is ready.

think I'll stick to my Cave Story+ but nice try, Fez

Twisty tower stuff reminds me of that one level from Dynamite Headdy.

I should go play me some Dynamite Headdy.

For some reason this reminds me of playing Super Mario 64 and hitting the c-buttons to figure out what platforms were possibly around me in order get through the crazier levels.

This looks really cool. I'll be curious to hear Jeff's thoughts on the endgame though...if he gets frustrated and gives up I feel like I would do the same :/

I've seen someone start to play through this game already on youtube and at no point whatsoever was he as lost as you make yourself out to be, Jeff.

This game is simple, straightforward and I'm totally looking forward to this one. The music in different environments is quite awesome.

Also, is Brad a bit quite in this one?

This reminds me a lot of Knytt. Like Knytt, the gameplay isn't too complicated or enthralling, but the atmosphere looks like it'll more than make up for that.

The stuttering is them hiding a load. Specifically, it's them hiding the GC pauses caused by loading content in XNA. Unfortunately there's nothing a XNA developer can do about it because Microsoft won't give us the tools to do anything about it. :(

I don't understand the "all of these puzzles look really easy, just rotate" comments. You can make flippant reductions like that for just about any game or genre.

I can understand if you don't think the mechanic will hold your interest, but to claim that it is inherently impossible for this mechanic to provide challenging/rewarding puzzles is silly.

This game is calm, yes. But if you compare 'calm' to 'boring', then something is wrong with you. People that are worried about this game being to easy should have realized that it's not too easy by Jeff constantly
saying that he still tries to figure out puzzles. This game is great y'all.

And if you are boycotting this game because of Phil, then you are a worse person than what you think of him.

With such an undeniable masterpiece so close to release, I think the Japanese gaming industry better kiss its collective ass goodbye! They'll never be able to make anything as amazing as this.

That's like saying Braid was easy hit the rewind button.

I like the art style and sensibility of this game. A definite buy.

the puzzles look really weak and the rotation thing feels like a gimmick to make the game a bit more interesting

but i like how it looks and the soundtrack is great

Looks interesting, I'm excited to finally try this thing out for myself. Some of Jeff's frustration with the game were really coming through in his voice.

That's exactly the vibe I got. That plus Jeff's comments make me wonder if there's that sort of discovery to the symbols and gameplay systems where you wander around and learn what things mean in context and things start to make more sense. Even if it's just to go back for collectibles, that would be pretty cool. It's probably wishful thinking though because there doesn't seem like much game here otherwise unless the world stays novel and varied enough.

Agreed. Love puzzle games but this seems a little weak. Got bored just watching the flipping camera perspectives in the QL.

i really don't approve of what phil fish said a while back, but all that aside, this looks fantastic.

That is a fantastic idea.

I was also getting a Cave Story vibe from the blocky look and color scheme. It's not even because both games are going for that retro style look as many games also do that. It's something about the atmosphere.
