I bought the game off the back of this QL and am enjoying it so far.

@radish: The game claims to be a throwback to turn based tactics games, and that sure sounds like my experiences with the original X-Com. Its the worst.

I was just thinking the other day how I'd like a tactical turn based combat game minus all the base building stuff. This looks...perfect? Never would have heard of it otherwise, thanks GB.

There's also Xenonauts. Banner Saga. Divinity Original Sin. Child of Light. Even South Park! Lots of it this year.

@assinass: I played South Park and wouldn't call that a tactical game at all, it was a pretty straightforward turn-based RPG. I guess I meant more like new XCOM, without the COM. Just lots of fights. I think Shadowrun Returns may be up my alley as well, I should get on that.

Need to get on that, too.

I think we can all agree that spending money on this game is better then spending money to go see Ghost of Mars in theaters.

A fun quick look. I watched a video on another site though, and the lack of constant morse code makes the game feel a lot better. It sounds great. Shame it showed up for this entire quick look, but it was still entertaining. Hopefully people don't get the wrong impression.

Don't play Divinity: Original Sin then :) It's that problem, but x100 because hitboxes move with the often very big idle animations characters have. It's a horrible design mistake to make.

I like this game overall, but some of the UI parts make me really angry. Like when you mean to click on another character but are slightly off so the currently selected one walks over and loses his turn which costs you the level and you have to restart from the beginning. It really needs an undo (as long as you haven't shot) command.

I can totally see where this is Xcom inspired - xcoms auto-action-focussing camera sucked ballls, whereas this seems to suck ass. *he says, while staring lovingly at those 350+ played hours on XCOM*

Seriously, the camera zooming looks.. untuned, to be kind, all camera zooms that have to cross more than one screen seem to happen about 0.25 - 0.5 seconds too quickly, I more often then not could not actually see/register if the enemy got hit/killed/how many hitpoints got taken from whats shown "in frame", before the next focal point got picked&moved to during the "enemy turn".

Or does it just seem like that because of some dark video magic, and it does not actually feel like that while playing? Or is there some animation-speed related settings or something you guys picked?

As a doctor, this is all I could think about during that conversation. My profession has sapped the joy from idle banter!
