Alex complained about the 49ers not actually playing in San Francisco, but the Giants don’t play in New York. Their stadium is another state, 30 minutes from NYC.

Wait, so, this game is on PS4, right? And that fake/not-fake TV show at the intro part has very obvious Microsoft product placement. Anyone else think that's kinda odd?

Did they say if they were playing this on a Pro or not?

Well, like numerous people have already pointed out, Good Morning Football is a real TV show. It would be WAY weirder if Sony forced EA to "blur out" any references to Micorsoft when using footage that Sony has absolutely no rights to.

Remember when they added physics in Madden 13 and it was awesome? Every year since then EA seems to (randomly) tone it down and it's near nonexistent in this... at least in this video. Seeing the awful, bullshit animations STILL taking priority over the physics model sucks.

Towels. Many of the players have them early in the season to wipe the sweat from their hands. Later in the season, you'll see mufflers in the same place to help keep their hands warm.

It is super weird they took the Telltale style choices out of Longshot mode, that seemed like the appeal.

@alex you probably realized it after it was recorded but that odd celebration was a game of hide and seek. The linemen was hiding a player behind him. Pretty sure Juju Smith-Schuster did it with the Steelers last season.

Bad football takes incoming

Visually this game just doesn't hit the mark. Look at Eli at 1:05:52 . That face/body just looks bad. And continue watching the replay at that mark and look at the player models collide and float all over the place. Did Madden 18 look this bad? I bought it on sale a few months ago but only played a few games. I'll have to load it up tonight.

edit: look at Vinny's vacuum hands at 1:06:56 It's like the glitches and bad collision are more noticeable with the replays being shown while picking the play.

I'm at 37 minutes in and they have not noticed the hit circle to go to the playbook option at the bottom of the play calling screen. I have a bad feeling they are not going to notice it for the rest of the game.

EDIT: they kind of noticed, but the interface looks like hot garbage so I don't blame them for not wading through the slog of picking a play. How has it managed to regress from the PS2 days?

I think it's weird that both the Giants and the Jets are called from New York when they play in North Jersey.

It's funny that Alex uses the 49ers as his example for "shouldnt be able to use the city name if you're more than 10 minutes away from the city," when the New York Giants play in an entirely different state. And East Rutherford, NJ can take way longer than 10 minutes to get to from the city come game day.

@alekso: The PC version looks basically one entire generation better. Especially in 4K.

I thought Longshot was pretty weak last year, tbh. I do recognize the woman from that fake football show. It's Kay Adams.

These are the worst subtitles I ever ever seen. Literally the worst of any medium in the history of entertainment. Did nobody look at these? Not a single human being even glanced at these fuckin subtitles?

Fuck this, man. How shitty can a company get with its production? and I say shitty because I know it's not actually laziness, I know it's not for lack of noticing, but somebody somewhere made the decision not to fix the subtitles. That sucks.

I remember being amazed at the graphics on Madden and NBA games this generation but these last couple years have looked really weird. I don't know if everything else got better or something changed in the engines with these games, but they just don't look excellent anymore.
