How did Brad get stuck on the fan section it wasn't even a puzzle and there was no other options but one and he tells Ben let's see how long this takes you and Ben walks into the fan which is super obvious and Brad is baffled

What did he think the other solutions to try were? Lol game looks OK but puzzles appear to be very simplistic for how elaborate the rooms seem. With the mechanic that cubes can be used only once, I get it. Game could have used power ups to increase spawn or double cubes etc so you can have more elaborate puzzles since 2 pops and a hop seems to be most of how these work.

QUBE 1 did have a story and it was actually pretty good. I imagine Brad is nowhere near even the quarter mark on this game as the puzzles in 1 started to get much more complex pretty fast.

At least we have another sci fi puzzle game (also Talos) that doesn't try so hard like Portal.

The atmosphere and level design borrow heavily from portal 2. Brad even drew the comparisons on the bombcast.

I preferred when puzzle game Quick Looks were on current save. I know the crew doesn't like being stuck and having angry comments about it, but replaying areas of a puzzle game is a bad solution. It doesn't show the game off properly since you breeze through puzzles. And if I know the puzzles, which I did in this instance, it's boring to watch for the same reason. I have great memories of past puzzle QLs, including the original QUBE, but recently puzzle QLs feel like they show too much, too quickly in a way that doesn't show the game in its true light. There will likely be comments that say differently, perhaps from the same people that once screamed "How are you even stuck on this!?", but that's my feeling.

I'm enjoying the game so far. It's one of those rare sequels that's exactly as good as you expect, no worse or better.

It only had a story in the director's cut. The original release just dropped you into puzzle rooms with no explanation.

Q.U.B.E. is hands down the most underrated game in my opinion. When you learn the mechanics/levels and you play it as a trials game, the fun ramps up so much. Trying to find ways you can finish every level faster every time.

Don't sleep on the original Q.U.B.E duders! It's only a puzzle game at first but that's really not where it shines, nor do I think it was meant to be a "puzzle game."

As somebody who super enjoyed QUBE 1 when it originally came out and absolutely hated the story in the director's cut, I had very mixed feelings when they announced a sequel.

I am a total sucker for language-less games and felt it really contributed to the alien-ness of QUBE 1.

Hm I totally thought the fan would react the way it did, anytime I see a giant fan in games i assume its used to push or launch a person or thing. Game looks pretty neat for sure, its got a nice aesthetic.

'The cake is a lie' is quite funny. Gamers taking that and force feeding it into the internet until the seams burst was not. Portal 2 holds up (I played it for the first time 3 years ago). Space Core is funny; legions of nerds screaming SPAAAAACE is not.

Spoilers: So in the director’s cut of the first game, the big twist was that there was no twist. Everything the the voice was telling you was true if I remember correctly. It’s kind of anti Portal in that way. From the sound of it , this game takes place immediately after the events of the first game?

I think the first one was the easiest puzzle game I've ever played because of how limited your options were, but I still liked it in it's own way. Kinda nice and relaxing to breeze through it.

Looking forward to playing this one.

Exactly

I remember someone after the quicklook (probably Brad) mentioning that they learned that the reason the original release had a conspicuous lack of context was that the story was stripped out prior to release. And this was due to the accents of the actors being thought of as alienating to players, or something?

I never played the game but I figured when I saw the Director´s Cut version of QUBE 1 later on that this had been added back in. Good to hear that, that was the case.

@beenusalpha: They actually designed QUBE 1 with a story and voice acting. They scrapped it all shortly before release because they felt it detracted from the puzzle and atmospheric storytelling of the game. Interesting that they chose to include vocal storytelling in QUBE 2.

Cube Zero was good and so was Cube.

Will say, when Ben starts trying to talk about movies, my head spins in circles. I feel like I am missing something on where he is getting some of the info.

Regardless, I am curious about this game.

This was 5 bucks off so I picked it up because despite it's relative simplicity I really enjoyed the first one (played the Director's Cut version). I'm really liking it so far! Not too taxing, like the first, but still, at times it uses physics puzzles well, and the game is very well made.
