Quick Look: Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster

I hope Ryan kidnaps a bunch of kids to review this game for him....

Question : Ryan lives in the Wiskey Media offices or something? I ask this because he´s always wearing the same shirt...always.

Where are the little kids?! Ryan's sexy robe? His director's char!? You lied to me Bombcast!

My 4 year old had a great time with this last night- even the 2 year old had fun doing the flapping alongside him. Nice job by Double Fine.

Patrick and Ryan reminds me of a xbox avatar in this vid. Grover dance segment reminds me of the dance the avatars do when they are excited.

I can see kids absolutely adoring this, seems really well made for it's audience.

Ryan's DoubleFine weeds thing had me in stitches.

I don't know about that, but I can speak for myself. I personally wear similar looking clothing almost every day; black shirts, and jeans always does it for me. I think I have quite a bit of black shirts that all look the same.

IDK about Ryan though, maybe he likes that one shirt in particular.

Ryan couldn't get a little kid for this so he got the next best thing, Patrick!

The way giant bomb is in bed with double fine reeks. Its kinda disturbing.

@Henrikhoe: It's not that they can't criticize it so much as most of the criticism they WOULD have isn't particularly valid for the kind of game. Like, the overly repetitive dialogue they mention is actually a valid complaint, but it being very simple and such isn't.

Looks like a great game for kids and I LOVED this Quick Look. The Kinect Quick Looks always bring a smile to my face.

Double Fine is pretty great.

So does this mean Microsoft is going to buy out Double Fine now?

Ryan and Patrick are having WAY too much fun playing this. And I don't think I ever stopped smiling, definitely a Double Fine game.

The animations really shine in the dance sequence, adorable.

This game is adorable. Yet another quality title, Double Fine.

Those jeans give Patrick some sexy-ass legs. Here's a neat trick--cover the top half of his body and pretend he's the girl from comic vine. It's totally possible.

The Cookie Monster that also eats vegetables is a hollow shell of his former self.

I love the attention to detail on the sesame street characters. The arms are all floppy like they are as puppets when the hands shoot all over the place. =)

i feel like if i play this by myself, i would just end up cussing out the monsters while i play it... am i the only one?

Man, what happened to Grover? It's like he got a lobotomy.

Looks like Schafer is going to continue to be irrelevant for the foreseeable future. How long can a guy coast on the accomplishments of a funny, quirky, game that didn't play all that great?

On the other hand, of all the big-name developers out there, if any were to waste their time making a Kinect game, I'm glad it was Tim Schafer.

I feel dirty after watching this..

What does it say about the game that it makes Patrick Cookie Monster and has Ryan play as Grover/Elmo. And why would the game not have a Mad Men reference? It's not like Sesame Street hasn't done it.

You don't own more then 1 of the same shirt? or similar? I have 4 sets of the same polos, a bunch of non-stripe polos of the same color etc.

When you're an adult you tend to have a lot of similar clothing, especially for work and going out, not everyone wears hipster graphic tees.

the funny thing was that when Patrick kneeled down, he really looked like a 4 year old.

That dance sequence was way the fuck too fun to watch.

Cutest game i've ever seen, warms my heart reminding me of my childhood with Sesame Street. Great Job Double Fine.

I do own some of the same shirt but I don´t wear them consicutively but Ryan is the only one that I´ve notice wearing that same shirt, hell Kessler wore the same shirt during the Condemned Fear Gauntlet he even mentioned... Someone should just sent him a big shirt with a dog face on it.

Double Fine is the greatest.

Sesame Street is the greatest.

And Elmo is the best, just saying.

They totally did a Mad Men sketch on Sesame Street.

Also: the repeating instructions are super key for 3 year olds. My daughter can play this game and she is terrible at following detailed instructions on the first try.

Thanks for the Quick Look, guys! I now feel well-informed enough to decide whether or not to purchase Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster. What a dilemma that was.

(Actually, this was a great Quick Look. I'm glad that this wasn't played just for the purpose of making a bunch of cynical comments. Watching people have fun leaves a better aftertaste than watching people suffer for the sake of comedy.)
