But it's kinda true. Western monster designs in games usually lack any kind of weirdness which makes them a little bit boring in my opinion. There's these stereotypes (orcs, ogres, elves...) and those get recycled mostly without expanding on them in an interesting way.

Those are European designs, technically. I'm thinking of HP Lovecraft or the menagerie of weirdness from Mass Effect like the Elcor or Hanar.

Yeah I was about to bring up mass effect monster design as being really cool. Raccni, Thresher Maws, The Thorian, Harvesters, and the various aliens are all really STRONG designs. (Though I wish we could have fought the fake raccni queen in ME3 would have made an awesome boss fight) Even the robot and technology designs in ME3 are REALLY strong. Plenty of games have awesome boss fights, you just have to actually PLAY the games to see them. :/

Also I would LOVE to see reaperized versions of Elcor, Hanar, or Volus in ME3 dlc. Those would make for awesome monsters. :)

this podcast is like a Disney version of the Bombcast. it's like the Catholic school version of a prison podcast.

i blame the chick. whenever there's a chick around, regardless if the dudes have wives and 7 kids and the chick is married with 2 dogs, dudes will always act more decent, less raunchy and much more boring around the girl because of some deep subconscious need to impress her for lady affection. its nature.
