I went the furthest I ever have in Spelunky yesterday! Died near the end of the temple with multiple close calls throughout, and now I super confident and pumped to go all the way!! All thanks to Scoops and everyone here... and Max too.

I too also sing along with the Spelunky theme every time I load it. It's one of my only unskippable "Press Start" screens, Mega Man 2 being another all-time favourite.

Finally got around to watching this and lol. Totally reminded me of an old Bugs Bunny PSA... tho, it's old so I doubt many would get the reference =P

Hey Patrick, a friend told me a good technique for robbing a shop without losing a life if you have a bomb to spend. Lineup just a little behind the middle of the last item in the shop and simultaneously jump and throw a bomb. You'll land on the shop keep's head and the shotty is at your feet. Once you have the positioning down it's a piece of cake to rob the shop every time. Happy shop robbin'!

@patrickklepek I notice there are times when you have no shotgun that you leave perfectly good boomerangs sitting on the ground, and proceed further into levels unnecessarily unarmed. Do you hate the boomerangs? I'd prefer a shotgun of course, but between nothing and a boomerang, I'd take the weapon..

The second I saw that thwomp I knew he was toast. In fact, as soon as he decided to search for the shotgun I got a bad feeling.

today I shot one of the croc men with the shotgun, I had 8 health and 50 bombs. He teleported right to my square which killed me outright. Fuck this game, I have terrible luck with spelunky.

This may be old news, but if you sacrafice an idol to Kali, you get a monkey that shits gold.

This game is weird.

Yesterday I found the alien rifle in a box in 1-1. I was so thrilled that I promptly got killed in 1-2. Apparently alien blaster shots do not stop, but in fact trigger, arrow trap arrows.

Fun fact for my fellow Spelunkers; if you have a jetpack and need to kill yourself for the moai statue, don't do it by crushing yourself. It explodes the jetpack. Go figure!

Since when did Scoops have GB bomb icon in spelunky?

I don't even play the game and it's getting a bit annoying to see Patrick make such dumb mistakes. I reckon the feature has run its course to the point where I'm just skipping through the entire Daily Challenge just to see his score.

It used to be fun watching his demise but now it's just become a bit painful to watch. At this pace I imagine it'll take weeks not days before he beats Yama.

We'll see, but I do think beating Hell is a real high goal for Patrick to end this series. I've known people reasonably good at the game playing for a long time who haven't beaten Hell yet. You need to the right run to even get there, and there's lots of places in the Temple and Hell which can ruin your day if you're unlucky or make one mistake. Plus, you know, beating Yama when you'll probably get there rarely at best.

Also not sure why Patrick always passes up the Compass. Invaluable item in later levels when you're just looking to get through.
