Lockdown 2020: The Jeff Gerstmann Home Game: Phantasy Star Online 2

I'm very interested in checking this out once it's out on the PC. I'm a little concerned that they haven't done a stress test or beta on the platform yet though.

As someone who put in like 3000 hours into PSO: I dunno man... There is so much shit in here that is non-sensical not to mention all the F2P stuff and ehhhhhhhh.

While some of the paid stuff is a little more excessive than usual, this is about right for a free to play MMO. Just check out some of the stuff you have to pay for in Star Wars: The Old Republic. You gotta pay money for the ability to hide your helmet. If you want more quickbars that costs money, you can buy inventory expansions with money, but you can also pay with credits, so that's not so bad, except you can only carry 200k credits at one time unless you pay. You have to pay to wear purple gear, you have to pay to access your guild bank, you can't do 8-player dungeons, you can't use the gear you would get from those 8-player dungeons. You can only do 5 pvp matches per week... That game has some really bad paid stuff. Some of that goes away if you subscribe though.

In comparison, PSO2 charging for inventory expansions that you absolutely don't need to enjoy the game is nothing. You have access to plenty of storage space, and you can store items whenever you want from wherever you want. Even mid-mission. You only need to go to the store terminal to remove items from storage. Plus, if you subscribe for about the same price as any MMO out there, you get even more storage space, and access to the full Battle pass.

I really like PSO2, but then I've also been playing it for a while now. The armor stuff Jeff seemed confused about doesn't seem all that confusing. You really just have to look at what stats go up and down and decide based on that.

The game's 8 years old and it definitely shows, and some of the stuff is a little jank. Like when I sent a request to join the GB alliance, you see that he had to search my name to actually invite me. If I hadn't changed my ID to Hornet, it would have been that super long string of numbers.

This stream made me realize I no longer have time in my life for these type of games - especially ones with free to play hooks

Now that there is a quality MMORPG of only the highest standard.

I'm a 1800petmeds.com sorta guy, but totally agree with the sentiment, Jeff should look into something like that :)

Definitely cheaper and more convenient if you can go that route. My dog is on a long-term medicine and its nice to be able to buy a multi-month supply all at once at a way cheaper price than the vet.

Played a lot of PSO back in the day and was looking forward to PSO2 finally coming out here, but boy this looks like chore to deal with.

Yeah man Jeff talks about it but there is something really bizarre going on with the damage Jeff is doing. Go compare this to the 2015 UPF. Jeff is 3-1 levels below what he was in that video and yet has more health and is also doing legitimately like 20 times the amount of damage. He should not be taking out those large floating bugs by himself in half a second.

The gun sound in this is honestly tremendous. Very like, hollow, in a good way. I'll scatter you to the four corners indeed.

Im happy that I was able to put this one while working from home. Definitely does NOT look up my alley.

The game doesn’t look to be balanced at all. What’s up withJeff one shooting every thing? Wasn’t the whole point of an MMO to grind loot and work for it?

This game looks ancient, like it belongs back on the PS3.

All the menus and fiddling around with quests and equipment in the first bit made my head hurt. It reminds me of when I recently tried to pick up FF11 and had a good "what the fuck is going on" moment.

I'm a bit confused on how I would join up with the GB alliance specifically. When I go to the counter the only options are to create an alliance or to basically put my "resume" out there. Is there no way to specifically search for it?
