Unfinished: Secrets of Grindea 04/21/2014

I'm going to blame all the dying that happens in this video on the game not being done. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Sometimes we look at a game before it's done. When that's the case? Well... it must be Unfinished.

I'd like to personally apologize for all the problems this video has had today. We're not sure what is causing a problem with our encoder system. If you download the file, it should play fine on your machine. If you watch the YouTube version, it will play just fine, as well. For some reason, it's having a problem on our player at roughly 10:55, and we cannot figure out why. Plus, a current glitch in our system deletes all the comments when we publish a new version of the video. Basically, everything is conspiring against me here. Again, really sorry. Hope those who have watched it have enjoyed it.

I download the video and I have the same issue with it locking up at around 10:55 in Media Player Classic. In VLC it keeps playing but the audio drops out. In both cases seeking a couple of seconds past the point where is messes up fixes it. I tried changing the container from mp4 to mkv, but that didn't fix the issue. I'm guess Youtube works because they re-encode the audio and video when you upload to them.

I watched it on youtube, and at a point the audio cut out for a moment, I didn't check the time code, but I'd guess there's an issue with Patrick's recording setup, the same issue happened at almost exactly the same time code (10:53) in last week's Worth Playing.

Is that so? HUH. I'll double check my setup! Thanks for the tip!

This game reminds me so much of the art style of Golden Sun and that's making me so happy.

Patrick, check the export settings. Make sure you're exporting it with the right frame rate. sometimes things can get out of whack if you encode videos with a different frame rate that the original video was recorded at.

I can't be the only person whose eyes are really bothered by the scrolling movement, right?

This game is fantastic. I love the charm it has. And the ability to have multiple summons. I laying waste to everything with a snowman, a cloud, and a pumpkin.

Looks like a much better version of Cladun X2 (a similar game on Steam and I think PSP.)

I'll probably get down with this sometime later this year.

First thing I thought of when seeing this game was Secret of Mana (probably one of the reasons why "Secrets Of" is in the title). After watching 10 minutes of the vid I went ahead and bought it.

@patrickklepek: Is there something going on with you guys and shockwave? On this site multiple things have failed and given me the error that shockwave has crashed. I'm not sure if it's you guys, me, or google chrome.

so much mage so little magic use!

IKR! He got that sweet Cone of Fire, and used it once. It was smacking the enemy for 30 damage ten times a second! He gets the staff that lowers his attack and raises his magic, then attacks with it... By the end of the video I was all like "USE THE BLOODY CONE!"

This is a great QL. Often, whenever GB does multiplayer QLs while in the same room, the guys just want to be silly. This seems more like showing the game and mechanics off. I appreciate both, and would love to see more of these.

How was this a great QL - they did not show off the games mechnics, they did not stand still for a second to show & talk even 30 seconds about menues/inv/skill trees ANYTHING like that..

We where allowed to watch over their shoulders, while they where playing as they normally would, at a point where they did not even yet have a grasp on all available mechanics ("cards active or passive? meh, I dont care, we're here to play for OUR amusement, be excited that you are allowed to watch.").

They just demonstrated that co-op works a lot better when you communicate even a little on what you are about to do.
Not Patrick deciding in his head that $this is the time to ignore 40 enemies on screen and just run on, while Alex doesn't know why he suddenly is alone and dying.

This QL was more unfinshed than the game.

Randomly thought of this game today and realized it's still not out of early access over 5 years later. On the other hand, the devs are still actively working on it and it's well-reviewed on Steam. So, good on them for keeping at it. I haven't watched this QL in a long time (and still haven't rewatched it after typing this short posting).
