Glad this is back! I left Screened a few weeks after Rorie left because I knew it wouldn't be the same. I randomly check them every now and again, but it looks like they don't even review movies anymore as the last one they did was the Jackie Robinson biopic 42. Happy that this is a thing and I hope it comes to an iTunes feed so I can listen to it!

Star Trek spoilers:

I thought one of the weirdest things about the starship smashing into San Francisco was how they didn't make any more of it after that happened. There were some shots of people looking up at the ship falling towards them, but after that, really nothing. We didn't get a good grasp of how long time had passed throughout the film, but I think it can't have been more than a couple of days after the London bombing, and the subsequent attack on the Starfleet officers in that tower, surely the planet or the entire UFP would've been on heightened terror alert following that. A starship smashing into the Starfleet Academy would most likely have been considered a terrorist attack rather than an accident with the past few days' events in mind, and considering the ground damage the ship does, the amount of casualties must've been in the tens of thousands, yet public transport or the airspace wasn't shut down, people seemed to go about their daily business, and we got a drawn out fight scene on top of some kind of space bus without anybody in the other space cars seemingly reacting. If they're going to do an analogy to the present day terrorism threat, I would've expected them to do a bit more about the aftermath of attacks like that, that to me would've been closer to what Star Trek is about. Several episodes throughout the several series have focused on the human psychological side of similar events - humans trying to come to terms with their time under the control of the Borg, the Bajorans and their time under Cardassian rule, the time Beverly Crusher was captured by a terrorist and started showing some effects of the Stockholm syndrome, that ferengi kid returning to DS9 after being trapped on a planet under siege during the Dominion war. Sure, this was a movie and that shit happened in the last 15 minutes of it, but there really was no sense of the impact that event caused to anyone involved.

More Alex and Matt content is always a welcome thing. Keep it up boys.

LOL people that worry their little heads with brainless action movies to that extent make me laugh really hard, FF is a brainless action movie its not meant to be "understood" or whatever, those type movies appear to take place in a normal world but come on, they obviously don't, I wouldn't call it scifi but maybe uber lite scifi, think of it that way and maybe then you'll be able to see it for what its worth(nothing serious not worth bitching about).

This was fantastic - I love these movie podcasts.

Despite disagreeing with the guys somewhat (Star Trek was much better then Iron Man. To me.) it's so great having these two yackin about movies again. SO good.

If you think battleship was a cash grab on Hasbro's part, you haven't seen the executive meddling they've done to the upcoming My little pony franchise.

At least in Battleship there were actually, you know, battleships in it. The MLP movie revolves around humanized ponies in a high school setting.

Fucking loved Screened back in the day, it was probably the best site for content Whiskey offered. So happy for its glorious, copyright-limited return.
