This music is DOPE!!! Best Castlevania ever! Why didn't the US get this?!

Probably because the Turbografx-16 was pretty much a dead system in the US by the time this game came out in Japan. NEC tried to reinvigorate it by releasing the TurboDuo (the Turbografx-16 + CD attachment in one system) here in the early 90s, but the only person I knew who bought one ended up returning it a few days later.

Oh well, at least we eventually did get it on the Wii VC and PSP in the last decade.

Vinny needs to be more aggressive. The AI in this game is specifically designed to punish players who hesitate.

I was wondering if I should watch this series. After a look-see through the comments, there was no question.

Holy hell, I had never heard this version of Vampire Killer before, and it is immediately my favorite version of the theme. Goddammit Japan, why you holding back!?

Just starting this and it's driving me crazy that none of them are recognizing that literally all of the sprites in this game are reused in SotN.

Have... have NONE of the BEASTs ever played Symphony of the Night? I understand one or two, but really? None of you guys?

It's probably been a while since they played it, and even so, they might not have played it as much as some of us. I'm reasonably sure all three of them have played SotN.

That main riff in the 2nd level sounds just like the bridge to MJ's "Rock With You"

Happy to hear them dig this game. One of my favorites for sure. Hope they circle back around to Bloodlines on the Genesis as well.

Man, now I want to play SotN again. But VinnyVania has got me to play through Rondo of Blood on my Wii again, and this time I'm working on 100%-ing it. I'll probably do that first.

People complained that the GBA games were too anime. They clearly never saw this game.

The best Castlevania of the early 90s - yes better than Bloodlines, SCIV and Akumajou Dracula :)

Tokyo Dracula actually takes place in the future, all of the games that have come out since are technically prequels; they haven't gotten to Tokyo Dracula in the main series yet.

It was a downright crime that this game didn't reach the US for so long. I did a bunch of import gaming back then. Playing Dracula X was like getting your hands on a quality PSX game a year or more before PSX launch.
