I've seen him in a bunch of HK movies, never heard him speak any english though. Should I be excited?

Yes, Donnie Yen is superb.

he grew up in the Boston area, and speaks fluent english. you can hear him in Rogue One and the new XXX movie.

I think that its a pretty great idea, considering Sleeping Dogs took so much obvious inspiration the Hong Kong cop movies that he (and others) have been making for the past like 20 years.

It's a real bummer that he's starting to break in America when he is over 50 years old.

Will Academy Award™ Winner Emma Stone be starring?

I really hope this is a predominantly Chinese-speaking movie and not just Asian actors speaking mostly in English and heavily accented Chinese. One thing that took me out of Sleeping Dogs was how obvious it was most Chinese-speaking voices were not native speakers. Or just set it in America, have Donnie Yen infiltrate the Chinese American triad, that would make more sense.

This will be the first video game movie I watch in a long long time, simply because Donnie Yen.

And, also I guess Sleeping Dogs as a premise has a real easy translation into a movie. But If Donnie Yen's in it I'm gonna watch it regardless.

@slag: Screw it. Maybe if the movie does well someone will dredge up the IP and try make another game. Out of all video games to be made into movies Sleeping Dogs is probably the most likely to succeed because you're just playing a Hong Kong cop drama. This will be a movie based on a game based on a movie.

After all there are movies that have the same story.So yeah,a movie like that has a good chance to work.

They can straight up plagiarize one of his old movies, like 80% of what makes up Sleeping Dogs is in this clip alone.

Kinda seems as pointless as making a GTA movie given that the game is a pastiche of movies already, but hell, why not? I'll watch it.
