So what do you guys think of the game so far? I find it to be quite fun! It's really nice to see a game like this make its way on to Steam.

I wasn't sure what to expect (was thinking a modern Star Fox), but it's a delightful surprise.

I'll be picking this up. Time to dust off the joystick.

I had no idea this game existed until now. Thanks for the heads up!

I bought it, but haven't played it yet. At the very least it's worth supporting a six person dev team trying to keep the genre alive.

Thanks for the nice little round up, i think i prefer this game over Evochron Mercenary, which was release not long ago too.

I'm going to have to wait a little longer. I posted this last night, after I tried to start up the game: http://www.giantbomb.com/sol-exodus/61-35947/hotas-users-beware-for-now/35-533737/

Basically, if you want to use a HOTAS setup, you may have to wait a while before you can use your device. "May," because I think it's not working properly for people with Saitek and Thrustmaster hardware. My Sidewinder Precision 2 died years ago, so I replaced it with a Saitek X52 Pro. The former would work flawlessly out of the box for this game. The latter, not so much.

All that said, the devs have been amazingly on top of all the feedback they're getting, positive and negative, on the Steam forum for the game. And I'm confident that I'll be enjoying this game soon. But at the moment, I'm just going to have to wait for a little while before I can play this game the way I want to.

I'm waiting for Total Halibut to put up a WTF is... on this title.

While I -love- the space shooter genre, all the videos I've seen make it look kind of... Star Fox-ish. While arcadey is fun, I'd like the depth of Freespace in a new space shooter.

It's a very competent space combat sim. I'm liking it so far. It may not have the polish of a high-end game, but it works well nonetheless.

The game looks and feels great, I feel like Im in a BSG Viper. I would have loved to have this on an open world (universe, whatever) setting with more customization and from what Ive seen so far it seems that is not going to happen, but Im enjoying it a lot. Im using a 360 controller btw and the controls are mapped perfectly for it.

@MatPaget: Oh, I've been keeping an eye on their notes and responses on the game's Steam forum. Their community presence is nothing short of exemplary.

@Ubersmake: Yeah, it's pretty awesome! The Creative Director of Seamless was Creative Lead for Saint's Row back when he was at Volition.

I've played this for about two hours now. The joystick patch I've been waiting for is out, and damn, this is fun. And difficult. I suppose I should collect all my thoughts into a blog post for a later date, but there is one thing I'm absolutely loving about this game: Gun kills are incredibly satisfying.
