Just curious who started getting into this game (or some competitive games in general) by Brad's post about watching other people play video games.

Seems like there have been more and more posters saying stuff like "you know, I've been looking at Starcraft lately." Did Brad's post have something to do with it?

And if so, were the MLG tournament's games hard to follow for you guys? Or did big ass army battles just scratch some primal itch?

It's weird, I actually started watching MLG on Sunday, and then found out about that post a few hours later. Ended up watching 5 hours and got back into Starcraft. Quite a coincidence.

I noticed a lot of comments in Brad's post more or less along the lines of "wow I did not know this existed but now I know and it is pretty awesome."

Yeah, I only watched EVO and some of the Starcraft finals because of Brad's post. I've actually started to watch some day[9] videos since I loved the commentary during the matches, and I've gotta say, some of those funday mondays are hilarious (and also make me love mondays even more!).

Yeah, Day[9] is awesome. Even when I stopped caring about Starcraft for a bit, I would still watch his Funday Mondays because I can't get through one without crying from laughter. Friggin' amazing.

My buddy made me watch some of his stuff last year, and I eventually got pretty hooked. The nice thing was learning about some of the pros, and it was a great introduction to that whole world.

Then he went on a break for a few weeks and I discovered GSL in his absence. And wouldn't you know it, his brother (Tasteless) is just as awesome. I should probably start watching again on occasion, but man... the only problem with the whole esports scene is just that there's way too much to watch. Something a newer fan should quickly learn to realize.

Oh yeah, I also recommend the State of the Game podcast/video show, where they discuss the happenings of the game. Lots of good stuff this week about MLG and what that event is like when you're a part of it.

I was already planning to watch MLG for Starcraft II, but Brad's post reminded me about EVO. Had SC2's MLG stream on one monitor, and EVO on the other. Watching both of these definitely made me want to get back into Starcraft 2 as these competitions usually do, but also started playing Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 4 again. It's also the reason I'm probably going to get Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to scratch that itch since I never bothered to pick up regular MvC3, and I'm kind of eyeballing Street Fighter 3rd Strike even though I know I'm going to play it for about a week then never touch it again. In addition I watched GSL finals, which is causing me to seriously consider getting a season pass for it. I should really stop watching these competitions, they are rather bad for my wallet.

The GSL is totally worth it if you got the time, considering the sheer amount of content you get for the price. I started watching when I was out of work, but when I went back and had considerably less time it was a cruel addiction to get under control. But honestly, it doesn't get any better than the GSL when there isn't another major tournament going on (such as MLG, Dreamhack, NASL finals). Artosis and Tasteless really, really grow on you, and the other casting duo they got now isn't half bad. Plus the production is airtight, with good A/V quality and rarely any major technical issues.

It was fun to watch the SC2 tournaments. I saved the page for the future.

From the looks of the comments it produced a small influx of new viewers for recent e-sports events, but personally I was already informed.

I know that Brad's post pointed me over to the competition for both MLG and EVO. I didn't know the competition was in full swing before then. Looking back, I think I enjoyed watching EVO better, but I tried to watch and listen to the MLG finals in between all of the craziness at EVO.

I'm dying of laughter at his usual Dailies too.  #332 had the best line ever: "He sweats for e-sports..." It's gotten me very interested in SC2 as of late.

I originally was watching MLG for Husky and Bitter's blue casts, but I gradually flipped over to Day9's red casts instead.

Indeed, Day 9 is one of the best. I'm expecting him to team up with his brother and Artosis at Blizzcon again, which would be quite amazing. Those 3 are the best in the game, and I'd care a helluva lot less if they weren't around casting.
