@bluesun: Does that mean the GSL is wrapping up for the year? Dammit, in Seoul next week for 10 days and was hoping to catch a live match or two since Brad said that entry to the event is free.

@bluesun: Biggest Broodwar tournament in Korea had more people attend than the biggest Superbowl iirc.  GSL will only get bigger.

It'll keep getting bigger with Blizzard backing it up, constant patching and two new expansions coming along the way. The experience behind GSL needs to be ironed out however, since there's a lot of technical issues that happen during the tournaments. Not all of them are to blame for Battle.net, but its certainly an issue that there is no LAN.

I don't know much about Broodwar events, but I remember Tasteless and Artosis talking about how the turn-out for the GSL was impressive because they didn't need to have music groups or pop stars open up the show to get attendants. Starcraft 2 will grow a ton, I don't know about the GSL itself especially with the changes they are going to be making.

It can get as big as the games that are in it. And looking at how popular SC2 is, that's pretty damn big.

I've never played SC2 but am amazed by the people within the GSL, because they play at what looks like superhuman speeds. It's got the appeal watching someone do something that you can never do. I imagine that people who actually play SC2 get a little more enjoyment out of it, what with being able to see and appreciate the tactical nuances that are on show.
