Blizzard has dropped the bombshell today. Similar to how WoW and Warcraft 3 works, they've released a 'Test Realm' on the NA servers to test some tentative patches and tweaks to Bnet2.0. Huge things are a foot and you can check them out here:
    http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=174036 or
http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1213111662 but the Battle.net forums are down right now.

Essentially, here are the huge things to take from this:

    • Chat Channels!
    • Protoss Air/Sky Toss buff! (Phoenix + Voidray buff)
    • 2 Pylon block on the ramp isn't possible anymore
    • Hallucination researches a bit faster (4gate hallu timing is sharper)
    • Fungal Growth doesn't affect air units!
    • SCV Priority changed (Melee units attack repairing scvs instead of running around repairee target)
    • Bunker timing reduced. (This is tentative)

This is a huge, and I mean HUGE, buff to Toss. 2 Gate Phoenix or Forge FE into Sky Toss is now extremely viable vs Zerg and without Infestors to deal with the zippy Phoenix, Zerg has to find an entirely new route to fight phoenix harass into colossi. I really like some of these changes, especially the Hallucination buff and the SCV priority change. I'm afraid the fungal change is a bit too drastic and hope that doesnt make it to live, same with the bunker timing. Of course I'm happy about chat channels and those have a 100 player limit, but all in all I think it's a remarkable patch for Toss, a decent one for Terran and a horrible one for Zerg. However, there was a Ultralisk splash change so we'll see how that turns out after some testing. But for now, CHATCHANNELSFOREVERYONEEEEEEEE

Hate any void ray buffs. They're fine in 1v1 but the things break any moderate to high player count FFA games. Gah.

Edit: the buff isn't that significant. They do +20% more damage to Massive which is actually a good buff to make them better at countering units they're supposed to counter.

Flux Vanes has also been removed. Dunno if that means their speed upgrade is completely gone or if they start with it.

    ignore my pessimism, good change.

Also, to anyone who wants to hop on the PTR, load up SC2, update it. Then quit. Go to your SC2 Folder and launch Starcraft 2 Public Test.exe to hop on.

@Pinworm45:  Yeah, I hope to see the PvP meta change a lot after this though, Toss buffs not only shake up PvT/Z but PvP a lot too!

EDIT: Voidrays start with their normal speed and can no longer upgrade to the buffed Flux Vanes.

Really like the buff to hallucination.  It makes it more usable in  4gate (already tested it).  Now people will just up and quit when they see not only a 4gate force, but a colossi or two at their front door.

Lots of small, unnoticed changes as well.

You can no longer block the bottom of zergs ramp
    Ultras splash arc is bigger
That scv autoreplay while attackmoving trick is dead

Honestly though, the biggest hit to Zerg is the removal of being able to make units by holding down the hotkey. Now if you are trying to remacro right after a fight, you have to press the hotkey once for every unit. That means you need to press Z 50 times to spawm 50 larvae. That sucks.

Wonder if they will drop this patch while the GSL is going on like they did during season 2. I dont think it would change anything though since it seems that there are barely anymore toss in season 3 and the patch seems to be toss friendly.

As a zerg, seeing this I facepalmed myself to an inch from death. ZvP is already my hardest matchup, how the hell are you meant to stop Phoenix now. Also Phoenix buldtime has been decreased, WONDERFUL!
Melee targetting repairing SCV's will be great for zerglings and thors. Chat channels have been a long time coming.

Well, it got the speed upgrade removed entirely, but now it also does 20% more damage to massive units.

Yeah, everyone should keep in mind that this is just a testing thing. This isn't anything final. I also don't think the Fungal change will happen. I will only start to get mad if that actually happens.

Wtfff every Toss player is going to go 1 gate starport. I'd expect to see 2 queens at each hatch and reallllllly fast lair tech now. Worst part is it's so hard to reliably scout a Toss base

Thats ridiculous... like its not enough one phoenix can kill infinite amount of mutas, now we cant even stop them? If this is really happening then phoenix speed should be reduced by 1.

@gamefreak9 I think it has more to do with the fact that even though Phoenix are supposed to counter Mutas, in most situations a Zerg player could outproduce a Protoss player to just muscle their way through. Of course the Infestor change will also make this harder for Zerg.

Great, air harass is now even easier against Zerg, and my anti-air build is largely defunct. My remaining options against quick air units are to cover the entire map in spore crawlers, or get really really lucky.

Then they should also rebuff neural parasite, but no one's arguing they do that either.
They should have waited IMO, Protoss was in a bad spot for a bit but the metagame seems to have shifted a bit, not as bad now.

There is no micro in muta fights. Also, you don't need to be worried about 1base stargate builds in ZvP, those won't really be any better. What you need to be worried about are 2base 1/2 stargate builds on maps where you can safely take their nat like jungle, delta, shakuras.

The Protoss air buffs were sorely needed IMO.  Not sure that 10s less build time is the right number for the Phoenix, maybe 5 less would be better, but they did need a buff somehow.

The real issue is Fungal Growth change.  I see a lot of discussion about PvZ with this change, but IMO the big problem is ZvZ.   ZvZ used to actually be a rather interesting matchup once you got past the initial ling/baneling play by going roach.  Now without FG hitting air the game will be a straight rush to muta and the player who gets there first will dominate.  The ONLY defense ZvZ against Muta without FG is Corruptors, which are not very cost effective.

But, I hear you say, what about those Hydras?   Yeah.... the day you can actually get a Hydra force to be where you want it on the map against a harassing Mutalisk force is the day you become my hero.  This is sort of the same problem that now exists in PvZ.  Hydras are now the only counter (and the only ground to air period) for the Zerg against Phoenix play and since Hydras are so DAMN SLOW off Creep, they are pretty much an in-base defense unless your opponent's army is already decimated.
