Did a bunch of 3v3 today and I have been receiving no points for wins, but I am losing points for losses. All games have been against even or favored compition, its a little annoying going down in rank after winning 5 strait games.

Something of a known issue, sadly.

Yeah the whole points system is mysterious and educes mind exploding frustration.  I once won 6 games in a row getting a max of 8 points for each then dropped 25 the next time I lost.

Ya BNET was broken and u couldn't gain or lose any points.

Jeez, what is it with all the hater responses here?  The points system IS busted.  I'm not playing on ladder right now until we get some word about them fixing it.  A lot of people aren't getting any points for any games. 
 
And for the record, even if you're in diamond and your opponent is in bronze, you will get points for winning, always.

I don't quite understand how the points system works anyway. 
Head guy in my division has 79wins to 71 losses, but has 756 points. Considering you lose more points than you gain (at least in my experience it's always been +7 points, -14) then I'm not quite sure how that works...but as i said I don't understand it to begin with.

To get back on topic and not...  whatever the hell you two are talking about. 
 
There's any number of reasons a bug might only happen some of the time.  If they were predictable, they could be easily fixed.

btw, i also have this problem in 2v2 where even though my placement matches are done, it still says i am doing them. (all 5)

Yeah, this kinda pissed me off a bit. Right after two wins over favored opponents, I looked at my match history and realized that I didn't get points for either...that's not cool.

Same, I won two favored matches and didn't get any points. Then I played another two matches and lost, as well as gaining points properly.

Yeah, like I said, I'm staying out of the multiplayer till we hear something.  Oh, it may be nothing, but I don't mind a few days of a break.  Maybe I'll play a "Quick" Civ 4 game in preparation for the sequel.
