So if anyone else has listened to the SotG with Brad at Pax East, it's all but announced that SotG is going to be under contract with GiantBomb. You can listen to the podcast here: http://s3.majorleaguegaming.com.s3.amazonaws.com/files/sotg/SotGEPPAX12.mp3

I'm pretty excited about this! SotG is great, but has kinda lost it's footing after being picked up and then dropped by MLG. It also seems like a really neat way to tie SC2 and Giantbomb, especially given how much Brad loves the game.

    GiantBomb is the new eSports!?

WTFUUUUUUUUUUUUU (I thought it was randomly weird when I saw JP sitting in the audience for the PAX panel and that Brad was going to be on SotG)

Yeah, JP talked about how they're going under contract and they can't quite announce it yet, but that Brad was there for a reason. Also he signed his post on TeamLiquid with GLHB. It's not totally announced, but it's looking very very likely.

You should listen to it yourself. It's a pretty short podcast this time, and quite interesting. Really good Q&A session too.

@VikingKong: Yeah, SotG is one of the few podcasts I listen to with any regularity. I've been going crazy for the past few weeks checking their site over and over waiting for a new episode to go up. Hopefully this means they will get back to something approximating a consistent schedule?

Ive been waiting for this for a while. Im a casual fan of State of the Game, I tend to watch a lot more Starcraft 2 than I play, but the idea of Brad being there makes it so exciting! I just wish they had a video already, but I cant wait for it!

More e-sports on the site is always a good thing :D

    * Edit I did not listen to this at them time but there is not really that much to go off of though I would still hope its E-sport coverage on the site.

Likely just hosting them, maybe letting them use the studio. 8-4 are apparently not being hosted by 1up any more. CBSi super-podcast hub?

@Panpipe: Given the drop in the production quality of the show since JP stopped using the MLG studio, it seems it actually does make a pretty big difference having all that proper equipment etc for hosting.

This isn't really possible given one host lives in Korea, one lives in Arizona, JP switches between Texas and New York, Tyler lives in Texas (soon to be Oakland because of his wife), and Day9 lives in LA.

I figured this when I saw Brad was gonna be on SOTG.  Brad and JP seem to go back a bit, JP did arrange the showmatch on the first TNT for SC2 between Huk and Machine.

Also, I left a post on the TL SOTG thread with info about what's happened here with the purchase and whatnot since apparently a lot of people were out of the loop and/or were basing things off speculation rather than info. There were concerns that the show would be censored and whatnot.  I saw a few other familiar GB names post in there too.

Honestly JP being at the GB panel and brad being on the SOTG panel wouldn't be that weird even if this wasn't happening.

Brad and JP seem to be pretty good friends and they have played SC2 together on JP's stream several times.

He quit for about a month and the show turned for the worse so they got him back. Whether you like it or not, the show doesn't work without him. He's the person who provokes responses because two of the hosts are really quiet and he's the one who can get good responses out of them. I personally used to hate him but now I actually like him a lot, his stream is probably one of the better ones to learn Protoss on because he knows how to explain everything better than most players because of how long he has done coaching.

Yeh I'd like to see InControl fuck off too. Overall he's just a jerk. Everything offensive or stupid he ever does is supposed to be "funny" meanwhile you say one bad thing about him - he can't take it. His replies in the SotG Thread on TeamLiquid are pathetic to no end, especially his constant "Pay us money you bitches or stop bringing up any valid issues about the show. It's free, we get nothing for it blabala"

That's especially stupid considering that all InControl really got is some questionable internet fame from that show. Without it he wouldn't be able to take remotely as much money for coaching and his stream would generate less money too.

But it's not just that, he also isn't an especially good player. Not just that but his replies are mostly just really stupid and he seems to pander to the young teenage audience by constantly bashing Blizzard and the game about everything. The discussion when some of the new HotS units and changes got announced, just so bad. He just called everything stupid - period. Shitty reasons and whenever he "argued" with Artosis he'd insult him instead of actually arguing.

Sure, he does have his funny moments too and sometimes he does offer an interesting standpoint. But mostly not. And the reason he "keeps the shows pace" sometimes is mostly because JP just isn't exactly the best host at times and more often then not the show needs more variety of top players offering their ideas.

Either way, I hope this change will finally mean we can get decent audio quality on that show for a change. If that's the case I might finally listen to it once again.

But JP currently works for MLG, right? Would he work for both CBSi and MLG? I doubt they would really use the studio space since all of the hosts are so spread out across the country (and the world in the case of Artosis), so what would be the benefits to signing with CBSi? Money?

I don't see an issue with the conflict of JP working for two different companies at once. Artosis casts for both GSL and MLG, who had a deal fall through (hence why GSL partners with IPL now).

I imagine JP would sign with CBSi just so he can better fund the show, provide better mics for the hosts, better streaming capabilities (maybe CBS can pay to get Tyler and Artosis more stable internet so they don't have as many hiccups). Plus, there's the old adage of if you can find a way to get paid doing something you love, then do it and that's reason enough for JP to do it. Just look at what Day9 does with his show.

It isn't confirmed but 90% is likely to be the case. JP said Brad was on the PAX SOTG for a reason and in the same episode confirmed that they are now no longer indy.

I think it´s Gamespot the new host to the show.

Incontrol is good for discussion. Help to brake the sometimes too much polite way of other starcraft people.

And I don´t know if he is going to continue to be a pro player. Maybe he had reach a wall and the overall level of other player is too much above.

@Wunder_: I think you're onto something there. I suspect GB and GS are going to have nothing to do with it, GB is busy just trying to buy equipment to get back up to full speed and I think the GS website doesn't really have the infrastructure and isn't in a state where they can just change it so much so quickly.

@NaDannMaGoGo: Granted I haven't seen the complaints but judging by how the interenet usually behaves he probably has a point. I like him, he makes that show way more entertaining and while i get people not liking him, you can't deny he pushes hard to advance the SC2 scene. When he left the show suffered for it. He's great at keeping discussions going and asking good questions.

This is great news though I hope SotG is hooking up with Giant Bomb.

Giant Bomb: slowing completely their mission of global domination.

I'm not going to lie: just the notion of Giant Bomb actually ACHIEVING world domination at this rate gives me a big fat stiffy.

This is really cool "news" though.
