I have bought Skyrim and installed it and Steam. I have Dial-Up and downloaded Steam until it said it was connecting to my Steam account. Then I went to Woods (a grocery store that has internet) and downloaded it and started to play, then I went home and tried to play it, but it was connecting to my Steam account again. I have also tried to do offline mode, but it said there was some sort of problem, so does Skyrim need internet?

To setup steam to run in offline mode you have to be on the internet. Once that's done you will be able to play skyrim offline.

This is just pure ignorance. Some people still live in caves and inside grizzly bears. These locations are prohibitively expensive to supply with high-speed internet, thus dial-up still exists.

Wow, that basically rules out you downloading patches. Unless you want to wait a month to download them.

Dial up ain't that slow. 64Kbs is enough to download patches in less then an hour.

Depends entirely on the game, 56k dial-up is like less 5kb/s, you won't be downloading 50+mb in an hour.
