The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Graphics problems out of nowhere.

So this is what my game is looking like at the moment. The game has always ran fine and I have changed no settings. My graphics card is up to date (Radeon HD 6870), and I am kind of stuck on what to do next, it's kind of breaking the game for me, as it gets much worse than this, walls clipping out, becoming translucent. Anyone more computer savvy have an idea what is going on?

Your card could be artifacting.

  • Are you overclocking?
  • What kind of temps are you getting in-game?
  • Does it happen with every game or just Skyrim?

If it's not stemmed from overheating/overclocking your card is probably damaged and you probably need to RMA it.

That kind of corruption I would usually associated with the graphics card overheating, not a problem with the game. Though that shouldn't also cause walls to clip.

I'm pretty sure I saw similar screenshots on the steam forums after the last patch. Go check over there, 1.5 broke the game for a bunch of people.

Check that your case is getting enough air flow for starters. Overheating is usually the culprit.

Yeah, just googled this and there are videos with this exact problem and they had the exact same card. Installing 12.3 and disabling AA seems to be a temporary fix, or try rolling back to an older catalyst like 12.1.

Yeah I recommend checking your temps, looks like hella artefacts.

I might as well bring tis up here, I have crazy bright red lines filling my screen when I'm looking at dragons. Never seen them before 1.5

@WilltheMagicAsian: Exactly my problem yeah. It is fine with other games, not problems at all, so it must be a software problem... Will check steam forums.

@WilltheMagicAsian:

Good shout on disabling AA :) Worked a charm. Thanks for the help.
