Actually I don't really care if they go to TGS but I do want them to go to Japan.
The Bombcasts of the talking about the really crazy stuff they did are the best.
Them talking about their arcade experiences and buying Japanese toilets, I still think are some of the best podcasting they ever did.
Tokyo Game Show
Concept »
Tokyo Game Show or TGS is an annual video game convention held in Chiba, Japan. It is considered a major industry event with considerable media coverage and industry attendance.
I really hope Giantbomb goes to TGS this year.
It would be nice but I doubt they will go unless they actually see anything of value from going to TGS.
" Would be cool, but if anyone gets sent for TGS, it definitely won't be the entire crew. "well it's really all or nothing
" @FluxWaveZ said:How do you know? If they want to cover the show, they could possibly send someone to shoot video and someone for interviews or stuff. They don't always go everywhere together." " Did they go last year, the year before? Someone remind me. "last no
year before yes
Well that's why they have ads now" I remember the last coverage they did being awesome. I want to see some more of that. But for actual video game news, TGS seems kind of weak, I guess. There's not really any merits to going, and it does cost some significant cash. I guess the pros don't really outweigh the cons. "
" Too expensive to fly the whole crew and camera crew there. They would have to send one giantbomb guy, camera guy and producer(drew) "there would be no point in sending just one guy
Last year means they will never go to TGS again - unless they totally change the dates to space it from E3. Very little new content last year and GB managed to post almost as much content at home as the sites who had an actual presence in Japan.
Sure the podcasts and videos would be fun for us but I doubt it is much fun for the people flying all that way - a holiday it ain't.
Increased and new revenue stream mean they get to continue with the budget they have, not increase it. Funds have all been going one way for 2 years and while the investors will all be in it for the long haul the medium term goal will just be to cover their own costs." @N15PCA said:
"I don't think it's going to happen. "They probably can now. The ads will get them the funds (however I cannot see the ads, so then again maybe not). Its up to them, but if its a budget iddue (which I bet it is) then they should start up another line of merch. "
Actually I suspect the choice was to spend the travel budget going to TGS or send the whole crew to PAX and have a panel.
Vinny being the top camera guy + Ryan being arguably the best on camera.
Production can occur back in the US.
$3,000-$6,000 for the trip and expenses, so unless it made sense financialy then there would be no point or like the trip to Liverpool last year they get a developer to pay for everything.
Im also a fun hater.
You've all lost your sense of fun, your not the ones paying for it geeze.
Everyone take the stick out of your asses and search the hole for where the magic went.
As fun as the podcasts were, the actual TGS show is pretty useless to visit, none of them understand anything being said, and some other news source is going to translate any significant announcements within a couple hours, so there's really not a lot of reasons to go, as far as I can see.

" @demontium said:Yeah. Guess it was kinda of PAX or TGS; who knows, I don't really know much about GB's financial status, but I am sure its stable with what little advertising they get.Increased and new revenue stream mean they get to continue with the budget they have, not increase it.
