I wish I could play this...

Posted by Rallier

I miss 2D strategy games, I was always sure that they would run on my PC.

@Manhattan_Project:
It's free to try on Steam and the requirements are pretty paltry so chances are if you have a PC made in the last 5 years you can at least run it.

IT'S A TRAP.

Anyone know where I can find this? Google didn't turn much up.

Is it just me or does the graphics look bad even for a strategy game??

Steam is taking forever to "decrypt" the files. Might be a problem on my end.

Just go to Steam.

Does anyone know if there are videos of this game being played on a console? That's where I'm most curious about it.

Looks acceptable to me. Typical strategy game quality.

No... they just look bad.

This man does not appear to an actor (or if he is, he's a pretty bad one). In any case, he pronounces "poker" as "pocker". That is all. (good-lookin' game, going to try it out on steam later)

Wow, this guy has such a weird cadence to his speech.

Did that tank explode into planks of wood?

I don't appreciate your R.U.S.E., ma'am.

I was in the closed beta for this, it's a nice game with a unique concept that certainly adds a different depth to making strategies, but unfortunately I've never been that great at RTS etc type stuff :(

I imagine hardcare rts fans would appreciate it a lot more.

So basically, all he's trying to tell me is "this is a real-time strategy game"?

Because other than the RUSE stuff, there's not much difference yet between this and Company of Heroes...other than Company of Heroes being thorough, pedigree badassness.

I can see now that it is not for me. To deep.

Its really fun, but i dont think ill be buying it just because of ubisofts stupid DRM. I want to get this for my labtop, but whats the point when the game is rendered useless if i lose my internet connection or their servers go down? I have never pirated a game, and this is not a game i want to buy for my ps3, i might have to be like captain jack sparrow on this one.....

@Milkman:
Thanks!

I feel sorry for the guys at the Ubisoft development house that are working on this game. To have what is obviously a lot of good design and work that went into making this game be made irrelevant because of their DRM scheme. I was looking forward to this beauty of a game too.

The beta on steam is only 2 gigs, download it and try it out.  It actually does play differently than most RTS games.  Most RTS games have a heavy focus on micro, RUSE on the other hand seems to have an extremely low micro requirement and is much more strategic in nature.  Its got a pretty simple interface and a fairly basic premise, so it is easy to learn.   Taking and holding strategic positions seems to be a big part of the game too.

Lol, yeah. I think it was a "fake" tank, i.e. a "ruse".

This Game Is Broken By Design.

Posted by Obsidian

Already played the closed beta.  80% of battles ended in the first five minutes because one side decided to send a ton of paratroopers to the enemy base as soon as possible.  Hardcore zerg rush shit going on.  Even when that didn't happen games weren't very fun.  I'm not going to bother with the open beta or the full game unless it gets great reviews.

Downloading the beta now! I may be horrible at games like these but I still wanna try it.

Hah, People like you always crack me up, Guess what, I was in the closed beta to, and guess again, that was not an issue...

Ever heard of anti air, or fighter planes, those paratrooper planes are pretty weak on the armor side, there are lots of ways to counter it.

Most of the matches that ended by 1 player surendering to me were because of good flanking with ground units, not aircraft spam.

Planes are, after all, pretty fragile.

Downloaded the beta so I will check it out.
