No, it looks like a reskin of SR4.

Volition, I love you guys, but reskins of parts of Steelport and clearly identical animations from previous games ain't foolin' anyone.

I'm stoked. Here's hoping they go full out here. I can't really see where they go but some kind of reboot. I'd love SR5 to be 20% hardcore meticulously modeled farming sim just to throw people off.

So this is DLC or like a little standalone?

Seems like some dumb "pass the controller around" fun i guess.

I feel like this genre needs some new gameplay hooks, even adding in all the crazy stuff is fun for like a few hours I guess but ultimately it gets stale with the lack of challenge. Racing through check points and endlessly wasting enemies is getting pretty old.

They're the sort of complaints you should be levying against Saints Row IV proper given that was set up as a full priced sequel, not this stand-alone expansion thing.

Anywhoo, I think this all looks purty awesome. All of the demonic-themed abilities and weapon look like a lot of fun and I'm still open to more SRIV. Plus, Gat was severely underutilised in Saints Row IV, and SRTT for that matter, so I think it's great he's being given his own expansion. Though I wonder how Kinzie fits into this. Will you switch to her for specific story missions, or can you choose between the two at the outset? The screenshots suggest that she doesn't have powers and stuff like Gat does, or at least not the same ones I guess.

Saints Row IV was really disappointing, and this seems like more of that but in an uglier environment. No thanks.

@amdri: Volition isn't making this. Can't wait to see what they are doing, hopefully it will be leaps and bounds better than this.

Yeah, I don't think I'm ready for a reskin of a reskin, even it it seems like they did more work to Steelport than SR4 did. Also can't get over playing as Johnny gat, where's the fun in that? I want to be the boss and do all the customization stuff.

PS the guns look cool, the flight looks fun.

Armchair-a-geddon is pretty good. Flight looks like fun, but seeing it makes me wish I was just playing as my Boss character.

Wasn't a fan of those damn warden fights in SR4, so yeah, not looking forward to fighting those demons. Maybe it's more interesting here somehow, buuuuut I doubt it.

No, I agree with him. Saints Row at least offered the novelty of being this all-powerful virtual reality demigod. This looks like the same thing but replace "VR" with "hell" and "awesome main character" with "some lame dude I never really cared for".

Not that I'm fooling anyone. I finished SRII, III and IV twice with almost all the clusters (over 1200) both times in the last one. I'm gonna buy this and probably enjoy myself.

Depending how good the port is to Xbox One (ie looks better than last gen) I may well pick this up having not played it first time round!

I'm very torn on this because I love the SR franchise but I think 4 was probably the weakest game.

Also I think they should have gotten someone with a slightless monotone voice to do this video.

I loved Saints Row 4. This looks like an even shoddier re-skin that makes me play as Gat who I don't really care about. I know the co-op lets you play as Kinzie but hell, I'd rather play as her through the main storyline than Gat.

@yummylee: They haven't said anything about that, but they seem to only be talking about and showing Gat in these previews. And then the Kinzie thing was sort of an afterthought at PAX when they had the VA with them

Does anyone else feel this is taking itself too seriously? I was kind of hoping for a Brutal Legend take on hell with mountains of bones and 80's hair metal.

I appreciated what SR3 did for open world games, but I never really could get into it the way most did. SR4 seemed pretty derivative of that, and this seems flat out lazy...

The biggest appeal about the series for me was the customizability. Without that, and especially playing as Johnny Gat of all people... eh.

This is going to sound insane, but Saints Row needs a hard reboot.

I like Johnny Gat and I don't feel like Saints needs a reboot! Hell is not a fun setting in any video game. I would love more from the Boss and the crew just not in hell!

Well the lead write of Saints Row, Steve Jaros just left Volition and went to Valve, so I'm really not sure about the future of this franchise. It feels like THQ and Deep Silver's pushes to put out these standalones instead of taking time for a proper full sequel kind of took the wind out of the hype for this franchise(I still love SR4 though).

Seriously the best thing in sr4 was charging your jump and running, soon as you give the player the ability to fly at any time traversal becomes completely pointless and unsatisfying, I'd actually be happier with a more in depth return to vehicles and whatnot. The only thing this game has going for it is the cool setting, I love me some satantic imagery but its not enough on its own.

Why would you ever choose the same release date as GTA V for PC? Doesn't that mean the PC version will be super overshadowed by the behemoth that is GTA?

Oh my...this is just...dang, i can't believe how lame this looked, graphics, gameplay, jokes...at least to me it al just all seemed really stupid and not in a good way, but oh well..

I'd also like to remind everyone that this one is being developed by High Voltage from those conduit games on wii and not volition!

Right there with you guys. Even with Saints Row IV taking place in the same city, the superpowers helped it stand out. Gat Out of Hell, even with it's reuse of so many assets, seems like it'll still be fun so I'll be playing it for sure.

This looks as uninteresting as the narrator sounded. I didn't care for SR4 and I played the crap out of SR The Third, but this just looks bad. The environments are ugly, the setting uninteresting, and who wants to play as Gat? No thanks. Guess SR was a one-trick pony (as far as my tastes are concerned).

True, I'd prefer to play the game as my version of The Boss, but whatever. I always liked Gat, due in no small part to the VO for his character always been top notch. This sounds no different. :)

Why do they think anyone cares about Johnny Gat? He was barely around in the last two games which are the only ones most people have played (and perhaps rightly so.)

Apparently you can play as Kinzie in co-op but I hope you can just straight up play as her instead of Gat.

I could really go for one in a similar vein as SR2. I liked SR3 and thought SR4 was a bit much. It is too bad that they seem committed to all this superpower stuff. Meh.
