Yay, so excited!

Pretty boring trailer with some Battlefield trimmings; but I'm still very much looking forward to this game. Been playing since the Alpha, and it's a great time =D

Boring, empty world, runs like crap on my fairly decent machine, no campaign. Regretting buying the Alpha now.

I bet I would be sort of into this if I played it.

The co op can be a lot of fun if you find the right sever.

Arma 3 is an amazing game! I wish there was a way to show off the potential of this game, especially when you get in a good Clan/Squad, in something like a Quick Look. Sadly the Arma 2 quick look put me off the series and was resistant to try the game but Arma 2 became one of my favourite games of all time. Sadly it took a friend and a Clan to get me into it.

Arma 3 is sexy.

Anyone on the fence about the game should have a chat with current players - it's much more accessible than many people think!

Why didn't anyone tell me there were lasers in Arma3?

Yes, I know they're just tracer fire; but I think it would be funner if it was lasers instead of simple old bullets.

I probably should have gotten in on the alpha but ehh, I'll wait for Steam sales

I play most games for 1-2 hours total. 10 at best.

I have 60 hours clocked in this game, before today (Alpha/Beta). I spent like 5-10 hours just watching (and recording) volumetric clouds.

When Battlefield 3 PC rendering guy "dissed" Arma 3 guys on Twitter (before E3 ca. 2011), I was skeptical too, if this game will ever overcome the Arma2 hurdles (old engine). What they released today is still an "unfinished" game, but thanks to the "open" development approach and tons of community feedback, this game is truly not only looking good, but plays amazingly well!

You can drive, fly, dive, shoot, or just walk around. It is a heli and airplane sim, a military sim, a driving game, tank battle action game, a real time strategy game, and thanks to the amazing modding community, it will be many different things more.

The Editor is easy to use. If you still don't want to spend 3 minutes with it. One-Click Workshop scenarios are available.

If you are like me (or maybe Vinny?), you will recreate AaaaaAAaaaaAAAaaaaAAAAaaa... in ARMA3.

There is a hilarious "Metal Gear Solid" Mod already available...

... or you play using a dynamic Sandbox like "Whole Lotta Stratis" / "Altis"

One guy made a parcour style Black and White "Wulfenstein" kinda level, which has a distinct "feel" to it.

Someone else made a "Fly like Superman" Mod.

And of course Zoombies (DayZ-style).

And, I hear, it's a FPS too.

Best 30 bucks I spent this year.

Oh No. Three. Is down.

The built in editor is what makes this so great for me, being able to knock up a quick mission to run through.

Never. Play. Arma. Alone.

Find yourself a community of players that develop their own scenarios and play with them. Like Shack Tactical. They don't take themselves too seriously, and have very good tutorials on modern battlefield tactics.

And unfinished and unoptimized and buggy and overpriced. I'll stick with Arma 2 until the community fixes yet another Bohemia Interactive game. I guess they feel they can be as lazy as they want as the only ones making this kind of game. I hope a competent dev comes along and knocks them off their high horse.

Yes, I know they're just tracer fire; but I think it would be funner if it was lasers instead of simple old bullets.

In the Gulf war the Iraqi forces believed the Americans were using laser beams because the Warthogs fired so many bullets that the tracers formed what looked like a solid stream.

Looks great. Im looking forward to mods being made for Arma III.

Don't let him get away. Shoot him. In the. Back.

I don't think I've touched this "franchise" (even if it's seperate, but y'know...) personally since I played the original Operation Flashpoint. I remember having tons of fun with the editor alone, which was also probably the best and easiest level-editor ever to exist. Or at least I learned to use it pretty well...

Much as I love Paradox, they also have this problem. Competition is good.

Why doesn't anyone appear to generate shadows? The nighttime stuff looked like crap! Vehicles seem to look fine though.

All of these improvements, and there's still no bipod deployment to be seen. Come on Bohemia.

I wish my computer didn't run this game like total shit. Still hasn't stopped me from putting in a hundred hours flying around Stratis in a Pawnee shooting dudes while listening to podcasts. But I get fewer than 10 frames per second on Altis with my circa 2007 rig. I was hoping to wait until the new consoles have been out a few months so a baseline for port performance could be established, but this game really makes me want to jump the gun. I just have to forget about it for a while then come back.

You mean you havent played it since the Alpha..and you are complaining about how it runs etc?...get out.

181 hrs played and it's just been released. Ah, the hijinks of "rolling releases", or whatever they call it. It was supposed to avert the mess of previous ArmA buggy releases, and yet...

I don't know if there's a story in there, or it's run of the mill development, but their reasons for scrapping the game half way through, and starting "fresh" don't make much sense to me. I feel like we'll have to wait till the ACE team gets their mod out, along with some other player-created assets before the game will feel complete.

The game has lots of potential, and Altis is amazing, but they need to optimise the shit out of their engine if they want people to stick with it.

I want to crash that plane into a tank.

I wish there was something similar to this on consoles. I just miss playing a tactical shooter, ala the old Socoms or Rainbow Six series.

Arma 3 is super fun. Find a good online server/community and you'll have a blast. This isn't a game you play for a campaign or play alone.

This is my first experience with the series and the learning curve wasn't as harsh as I thought it would be, but man is it gratifying. Also, the game is indeed very pretty. You know what, I think I'm going to go play some Arma.

Edited by TriBeard

If any of you played Arma 2, how did you get around the control scheme? I tried to play it, as well as the Dayz mod, but I just couldn't do it on account of the controls. Is it just practice and you eventually learn it, or was there some button remapping that I was unable to figure out?

Not so much on the console thing (though Six wasnt bad there) but tactical shooters with a 4 man team is pretty dope.

Wouldn't turn my nose up at a PS4 version of this.

@tribeard: its not that hard rly there alot of need short cuts if you know them it almost feels natural once you putt a couple off hours in it its a game where you need to invest time in it to get joy from it

Posted by trelution

But does it still have seagull Vinny dive bombing?

The only thing that looks suspect is the amount of times I see the player casually aiming his firearm at his ally. I thought this was supposed to be authentic.

I wouldn't call it so much very pretty, but instead, boring and generic looking...
Maybe I'm just too demanding.

Well, it's kinda hard to look anything but generic when you're a realistic modern day shooter though. The character models up close don't seem very great to me, but some of that open terrain stuff looked pretty good.
