Borderlands 2 Welcomes You to the Slaughter Dome

Can't wait for this game.

Something about a loot driven shooter just sucks me in. Can't help it.

I had a lot of fun with the first one, so looking forward to this! Survival modes are always a welcome addition.

I'm pre-ordered from Amazon, so I guess I picked the wrong retailer to get this...

Oh, an exclusive to a single retailer... never mind...

I'll gladly buy this when it's released for everyone rather than have to pre-order from Gamestop. Plus I'm getting $10 credit from Amazon

I thought the first one got old fast because of how empty the environment felt (and little variety in the quests). Hopefully the world of Borderlands 2 feels more lively

Getting this from Amazon. However, I still have Darksiders 2, Transformers FOC and Rock Band Blitz to keep me busy until then.

Borderlands 2 is really setting the standard for annoying pre-order exclusive deals.

I don't know that Mad Moxxi's 2.0 is the best exclusive to obtain...

I just want this game to be out already.

Eh, ordered it from GreenManGaming for $45, so that's enough of a pre-order "bonus" for me. Echoing the "fuck pre-order exclusives" sentiments, though.

Ditto. Got it from GMG for $40 with their latest coupon. Considering how bad the arenas were last time in Moxxi's DLC, I'm not gonna shed a tear about missing this.

I'm done with Gamestop.

I'll buy from somewhere else and just pay for the DLC further down the line when it's out for everyone.

How is this a bonus? They had a couple of these areas in the first game, plus the almost worthless Moxxi expansion, and none of it was any good. Didn't GameStop already have that exlclusive class as a bonus?

Really? You should take a look at Dishonored, Forza, Sleeping Dogs, Max Payne 3, or almost the entire Assassin's Creed franchise. I feel like Gearbox has done pretty well by keeping to only one retailer exclusive instead of 3 or 4.

This trailer lowered my excitement for this game, it gave me bad flashback of the Moxxi expansion for the original borderland.

By the time I finished the whole DLC, I was sick and tired of Moxxi's 4 intro phrases repeating ad nauseam. Hours upon hours of hearing "Who loves you and who do you love?". Praised be Gearbox for getting rid of that.

So is it gonna be like MMUR where it takes an eternity to do one challenge?
Then they tell you to do a harder version that's three times longer?

I love the idea of a grinding arena that allows you to gain experience and keep loot. Moxxie's DLC in the first game was a waste of money for me, as you don't gain experience points in those fights. The loot was not worth the grind.

There will be a slaughter-dome for people who don't get it from gamestop... if you're into that sort of thing...... and yes it will have a penalty box.

I'll definitely buy this if it comes out. Guessing we don't get it as we don't have GS in UK.

Personally I really liked Moxxi's, so bringing it back with XP added (which was an odd exclusion in the original) is fine, especially if it comes with an announcer as entertaining as before (possibly even Moxxi herself?) - certainly interested.

Gamestop exclusive, so I won't get to play this I guess.

I remember playing Mad Moxxi's Arena DLC in the first game! That was...yeah, uh...it's was, ummm...

Horrible.

I'll just keep my $33 GMG copy.

The basic concept of arena battles is fine. The problem with the Moxxi DLC is just that it took too damn long to finish out a set and there was no picking up where you left off. The arena battles in the General Knoxx DLC were a much more appropriate length. One would presume they still remember the lessons learned there and that the battles here are broken into manageable chunks.

However it's also retailer exclusive (for now at least) so screw it anyway.

Got to love Gearbox' sense of humour. Of course they'd give the shittiest feature to Gamestop.

Does gamespot pay them for this? What is seriously the point? Provide good service and we will buy from your store there is no need to have a ransom on content just to make up for your shitty pre-order and trade in practices.

No, sir. The "Mechromancer" class will be free for everyone who pre-ordered.

I'm really stoked for this game, but Mad Moxxi was easily the weakest DLC for the previous one. So I'll pass on this particular 'bonus'.

I'll take an arena for free. I can see people complaining about Mad Mixi, but that was paid DLC. Free pre-order bonus, OKAY. I do hate when they're split accross different retailers though. Lame.

Indirectly, yes. This is second hand info, but as I understand it, the way it generally works is that GameStop will commit to buying larger initial shipment of a game if they're incentivized by having an exclusive pre-order bonus. That in turn generally results in more pre-orders for that retailer so that can have some confidence that they'll sell through that shipment.

Not to defend GameStop, but remember that they take a risk on whether or not a game is going to be good just like we the consumers do when buying before it's reviewed. Except in their case they stand to lose millions if a game is crap and not $60...

I wonder if you could pre-order the game to get the DLC code, then come back the next day to cancel it and get your money back.

Really? The Slaughter Dome, featuring Moxxi's rocket launcher? I'd like to think this is Gearbox flipping a subtle bird to an oblivious Gamestop.

I'll just stick with the Mechromancer and golden guns, lootfinding whatever I get from Amazon for like 2/3 of the price.
