Call of Juarez: The Cartel Trailer

I like the first Call of Juarez. It was a decent game with some cool features. My favorite parts were when you played as the Priest cause you could quote verses from a bible you held in one hand while shooting guys with a revolver in the other.

Every single line had me groaning:
 
Times have changed, yet nothing changed....sigh
Once men fought for gold, now they kill for money.......ugh
ABOVE THE LAW...uhhhgggg
Good cops couldn't cut it, send in bad ones!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! 
 
The big question is, is the game aware of how dumb it is and plays off it or is it just big ol' DUMB?  I'm hoping for the former, not touching it with a ten foot pole if it's the latter.

 

Is this supposed to be intentionally bad and cheesy, or what? Probably not I guess...But I was laughing through a good portion of it.

Might be the fact that the CGI looks way worse than the actual in-engine game(as far as I could tell from the screens in EGM), or the shitty VO and writing.   I'm hoping some gameplay video will reinforce my hopes, though. That chick shot that dude thrice and then punched him in the face with the gun. I don't know about that.

I think the song and visuals are cool, but that VO was so forced...

Well the trailer was pretty rad. I'm more hopeful now for this game then I was 2 minutes ago. Time will tell..

This trailer had just the right mix of legit badassery and stupidity to get me interested. I'm actually really excited to see what they do with this fairly original premise.

i didn't like this being modern... until the main character turned out to not just be some dumbfuck criminal. now i'm probably buying it

It looks kinda cool.
Let's see how it turns out.
Not like the first two games were ideal either.

This actually doesn't look half bad... it will all come down to whether the characters are interesting or not. But I do like the western attitude added to other settings. Now lets get that Cowboy Bebop-esque game going.

Driver gets shot, car blows up.  Makes sense.  Makes all kinds of AWESOME sense.

Good choice of music for this trailer.

That looks so fuckin' stupid. I like the song though.

That trailer was REALLY stupid. It looks like a Saints Row game. 
 
I loved the first Call of Juarez. I even appreciated how the characters tried so hard to be cool in the second one because I still knew the sad fate awaiting them (Bound in Blood is actually a prequel). But this? I hope Techland has a good reason to consider this a Call of Juarez game.

I thought Red Dead Redemption would make more people make western games, not scare off the ones doing it already!

As long as the gameplay isn't wank like the last game.

I've never played the first two Call of Juarez games, and it's really not from lack of interest.  I just know that I'd end up missing out on other games that I'm more excited for because I'd be playing them.  While this trailer doesn't show any gameplay, it does show tone.  I like the tone, so in turn... 
 
...I'm interested.  Color me intrigued.

This game is catching a lot of shit, but my interest in it just went up a billion percent.

Call of Juarez was alright. The story was interesting enough to see me through to the end. 
 
Bound in Blood was just damn amazing. Plot twists and some good story telling, coupled with some amazing voice acting. Plus, the environments were/are ridiculously good looking.

Call of Juarez: Western Warfare 3

Wow. Looks pretty crazy, but a good idea. You can't one-up Red Dead Redemption when it comes to westerns, so don't even try. Much as I didn't like the first 2 Call of Juarezs I'm gonna keep my eye on this to see how good/trainwrecky it is.
