Dragon Age: Inquisition Shows Off Some of its Environments

Eh, DAO is a quality RPG, I just didn't like the combat too much. It felt like I was too often fighting against my teammate's AI instead of fighting against the enemy. Granted, it became a lot more fun when I downloaded a mod that let me re-class myself and redistribute everything to make a mage, but then I had to get a mod that turned off friendly fire, and then it became far too easy, and then I stopped in the Deep Roads.

Apparently I was doing something wrong - most people didn't seem to have this problem.

I can already tell it'll be terrible. I'll back my words up by not purchasing on release and wait for a general opinion that might sway me. New Bioware drops the ball consistently now

@believer258: I felt the same way when I played through DA:O. it just felt kinda fake and closed in. Didnt grab me at all....and same with the second game, to a worse degree. I just hope this game is fun and you can actually free roam like in most quality RPGs

hmmm maybe I'm missing something, but this looks.... kinda crappy? The textures, especially those on the dwarven section looked bad, the water animations where clunky and the deer character model was also pretty bad. Compare this to something like the Witcher 2 or even Mass effect 3 (which it kinda is but fantasy instead of sci-fi) and I just don't think it holds up graphically. I skipped DA 2 because of the the terrible gameplay but I sunk a ton of hours into DAO. Really hope they can make this one stand out.

I'll keep an eye on it because of how great DA:O was, but man... it's like following one of the best first dates ever with finding out she has a penis. Or something. Metaphors are hard.

Don't care how it looks, EA and Bioware have no good will left with me. I'll wait for reviews, and probably even a rather large sale before I'll bother with this.

And I fucking love these kinds of games. Still, no dice.

Need, need, need a PS4. Really hope this can marry the first game's fantastic story telling, with some open-world graphical lovelyness.

Hmmm. Does look good. But let's not kid ourselves. The look of Dragon Age II was not that games major issue. I'm still gonna play the wait and see card to find out how the game plays.

I'm hopeful for this game and hope to play it by the end of this year.

Looks better then the bland environments of DA1 and certainly has more variety then the environments of DA2.

I'm aware a lot of things won't make narrative sense, but I just don't think I can go back and play two long ass rpgs before this comes out...maybe Origins. but I've been saying that for years.

Lookin' pretty sharp! Most likely a day-1 buy for me as well. I have faith that they've learnt their lesson from all of the feedback after DAII, and frankly the more I've learnt about Inquisition the better it sounds.

Fuck it, i'm on board. DA2 wasn't as bad as people say. i mean yes it was a rushed piece of shit, but it showed promise, if they had another year with DA2 it would have been really good.

I wouldn't call it lazy. It was rushed. Bioware was given something like 12 to 14 months to make the game, which actually makes it slightly impressive what they were able to accomplish in such a small amount of time. It was another victim of EA's vicious, slave-driving management style.

Looks really good. I still believe in Bioware. I recently went on a Bioware binge and played all of their recent games...They can bounce back.

The dwarven underground still looks like ass I see.

They keep changing how an entire race looks with every iteration, but the dwarven underground architecture remains a comforting constant :P

To be fair it all does look quite good.

This will be a hard game to buy. I really want to like it, I'm really interested in playing it, but I have no idea if Bioware is capable of delivering. That, and almost every outlet that reviewed 2 gave it super high praise when it was total shit! So, I don't know if I will have the confidence to buy this at the $60 price point.

Despite the hate many people have for Mass Effect 3, it's a much deeper RPG than Mass Effect 2. More powers, higher level cap, more freedom to choose your skill path, more weapons, more customization. It's debatable if it got back to ME1 levels of complexity after ME2 was stripped down immensely, but to say the Mass Effect games got dumbed down with each game is flat out wrong.

Wow, they really prettied up the place. Weird how a lot of it is so misty, but it looks very nice and I hope we get to properly explore the cliffsides instead of just running along paths.

Said this a thousand times. DA1 brought back the golden age of RPG (1998-2001ish) and the hopes of awesome complex deep epic RPG's.. Then DA2 just crushed all hope. Judging by how each of the ME games got dumbed down more and more, I think it's safe to assume that DA3 won't be even close to as deep as DA1. There's also a reasonable chance that it will be even more basic than DA2.

I come to these games for gameplay and story in equal measure. DA1 did it perfectly. Baldurs Gate as well, just brilliant mix of spectacularly engaging combat and an awesome story.

Then again.. Maybe DA3 will be BioWare's Magnum Opus. That would make my heart cry.

To be extremely hopeful, this game looks like it will deliver the scale and environment variety we missed in RPGs the last generation. There was so much more exploration and so many more places to go and they were all so different back when graphics were crummy. Makes sense games had to get smaller over the PS3/360 era so hopefully this is time when we'll finally marry visuals with scale.

Looks awesome... but I really hope its more like awesome Dragon Age one world and not lame Dragon Age 2 world. DA1 was subtle, DA2 was anything but.

I won't hold my breath though.

Looks a lot like Skyrim. But the environments look a lot more unique than Skyrim. Skirim's world was pretty bland. Also the music is such a rip off of Lord of the Rings.

I'll say this in its favor: it looks like you actually get to explore the vast world they created this time. Bioware has reiterated their determination to address at least that one criticism of DA2, and they appear to have done so.

I want to see what those buildings look like after they're shot by a tank.

I'm rarely this judgmental; but I expected Frostbite 3 to look better than this. Still, I am looking forward to Inquisition. Dragon Age 2 was a DISASTER.

I hope it's pretty open. Dragon Age Origins had a lot of invisible walls (no, you cannot step in that lake) and isn't really all that "open". That demo they had at E3 looked pretty open, though, so I'm not terribly concerned about this.

I do hope they step up their writing. Mass Effect 1 and 2 and DAO weren't master class stuff, but most of it was entertaining and/or informative. I've only played the demo of Dragon Age 2 and some parts of that were annoying, and Mass Effect 3 had some writing that just wasn't all that great all either.

I'll probably get this despite not finishing Dragon Age Origins, if only because it looks like it will scratch my open-world quest-driven single player RPG itch.

As long as this video isn't 15 seconds long, it's got a leg-up on Dragon Age 2.

However, they HAVE gone back to the "save the whole world from the bad demons", which is a bummer.

Yup, I may play this. I haven't beaten either Dragon Age but I did enjoy what I played. Even the second one gave me a bit of enjoyment.

This game is gonna make me play through Dragon Age 2. I need to catch up on the series before this comes out. I absolutely adored DA: Origins.
