I'd resub for the transmorgification thingie alone, but SWTOR is coming too soon!

Meh.

Looks cool, but I'll never be able to fight Deathwing, so what's the point?

Posted by AwesomeAquaman

I wonder when this game officially dies out.

Great use of Michael Caine

They're blowing up Azeroth again?

lol

@Robopengy: I heard this patch added some raid finder now with No lock out so as long as your good there might be a good chance you'll be able to granted you don't group with a bunch of idiots which is bound to happen at some point.

Posted by nyv

Why the hell I opened it, thinking it's Skyrim related.. damnit.

Anyway, the encounters and story wise it looks cool. Not going to resub for it, of course.

But that is the glory of 4.3. The "biggest" addition and what is going to "save" blizz's game and (imo anyway) will bring it back to it's end of wotlk insanely high subs is the Looking for Raid difficulty. LFR is essentially the dungeon matchmaking system but for 25 man raids, except the fights are tuned so they can be easily pugged, and I mean very easily. I went in last night and did the first 4 bosses on 3 different characters and Blizzard did an amazing job at tuning it for bads/people who don't want to commit a lot of time. (one of the bosses we pulled without explaining it and even though 10/25 people died we STILL killed the boss ON OUR FIRST TRY)

The raid is 8 bosses long, only first 4 are available this week in LFR with the next 4 unlocking next tuesday. The third character I did it with last night we managed to kill the first 4 bosses in thirty minutes. So yes, if you actually care you can see Deathwing very easily now, anyone can.

Wow, I am not at all up on my Warcraft Fiction. I could have sworn the Blue Aspect was dead and wasn't the Green Aspect in some eternal dreamworld thing? I haven't played WoW but this is what I remember from Warcraft 3 and some extended fiction. It does look like you'll go back to the Pre-Warcraft 1 time to retrieve something.

Last patch added a legendary staff for casters, it centered around the Blue Dragonflight and them going through the process of selecting a new aspect and one of Malygos' (old aspect we killed in wotlk) sons attempting to kill off the "good" blue dragons who were trying to select the new aspect. Kalecgos (from sunwell, and the manga trilogy) ended up being the chosen aspect to take over the flight.

Ysera (the green dragon who was lost in the emerald dream) was saved in a very very poorly written book from Knaak that came out about a year and a half ago.

Considering how easy the random raid finder fights are, you will be able to kill Deathwing even if you are the worst WoW player in the history of the game. At least, you will when Blizzard open up the last four bosses to the LFR system (only the first four are currently available).

Looks really cool, shame it's wrapped up in a game that's so stale.

@Zenaxzd: oh shit. some people may scream but thats a fine idea. i can't commit to wow like i did in the past and that would let me see the content and maybe not have to hear people bitch too much.

thats the two things i hate about wow, the bitching and time requirement.

Posted by NoRemnants

@Robopengy: They have a raid finder now that matches you with other people who want to do raids. These raids are also easier than if you were to go out and find a group on your own to do them. Anybody who actually wants to fight Deathwing will be able to.

@Zenaxzd: Thanks for the update!! I'm far too scared to go to the WoW wiki because I think I'll end up spending hours there trying to figure everything out.

I love it. Despite having 8 max level characters I really only played 2 of them because for alts once you hit max level outside of pvp (which I loathe) there really isn't much to do. This gives me a way to gear them up in fairly decent gear (the gear is inbetween the normal and hard mode versions of last tier's gear) and have some fun doing so.

More importantly though, this change is going to make people who can't cut it in normal raids continue playing for more than a month when a patch launches because they will actually be able to get gear since they can essentially be carried through this content easily. That third run I mentioned last night, 7 of the people were my guildies (we went on alts after we finished our normal raid) and we actually managed to carry the rest of the group quite easily.

I hope Blizzard doesn't again fall into the trap of this being the last major content update of the expansion. It's a little weird how closely this patch cycle resembles that of WotLK: a year into the expansion the patch with the big final boss is put out, and then there's nothing until the next expansion. Well, nothing of substance at least. WotLK got one more raid boss. I would have assumed they were going to try to stretch out this story line a bit more, like by a few months.

Also, didn't they say way back when 4.1 came out that they'd be on some smaller, quicker patch cycle? But they've managed to put out the same number of patches in the same amount of time as during Wrath.

Santa will pass. Santa has not played WoW in several months. Santa will be playing The Old Republic instead.

@Circ I know, why do people even bother posting when all they are going to do it insult the genre.

Because Jeff also hates the genre, and bashes it, so it's the cool thing to do.

Can you still run the game with a good old TNT2 card?

Posted by subyman

Why does Blizzard take this stuff so seriously? It is comical to have all these cartoony graphics with serious-business music and story.

Proud to say I've never played this game. Feels good bro.

It's the same difficulty, as a LFRer will be herded in with the dregs of the raiding scene; those passed over by casual guilds.

WHY, in this day and age, would you call anything Twilight?

Hey! A WoW trailer that isn't all Metzen doing his gravely-voice shtick! I remember those!

Looks neat, but as others said, swtor has my attention right now.

Looks fuckin' rad- If only I didn't have a job or school, I'd totally jump back in.

But it would never be the same. WoW is pretty much all I did my senior year of high school, no job and school was a breeze... but that was like 4 years ago.

Wow currently has an art department of 2 dude
97% of "new contents" are re color of old monster, slap some armor and scale up a NPC, frankenstein 2 or 3 mob together to mix a new one.
while the other do make 1 new boss at the end.

I haven't in nearly a year and I dont see anything new

Posted by probablytuna

As much I found WoW to be quite dull and uninteresting by the end of Wrath of the Lich King, the designs for this raid looks absolutely awesome. Fucking fighting on the back of Deathwing? God damn looks so damn cool.

to be fair the game was released in nov. 2004 and there is only so much to do in the warcraft franchice and blizzard studio while people are screaming for more startcraft and diablo. but i dont agree with you. i was playing untill about 2 weeks in to wrath of the lich king untill i got sick of running a dungeon 117times just to get the right armor only to start all over on the next. but still it took me a hole year to see that wow was not for me

Dragons in a video game - at last!

But yea, as an ex WoW player it does look okay. Glad to see some stuff actually happening at the Wyrmrest Temple, it was underused for how good it looks. Is the ultimate weapon a purified Ashbringer? Etc. 2 years ago, I'd be really excited. However, lots of people move on from MMOs with this kind of lifespan.

How is it a thing that this expansion came out a fucking year ago and you STILL aren't able to fight the bad dude that they put in every single dramatic CG advertisement?

Posted by avidwriter

Credit where credit is due : Blizzard still makes awesome trailers.

Posted by MisterMouse

still really crazy that there is a trailer for a patch

Posted by arch4non

Looks neat but there's no way in hell I'm paying for a monthly subscription again.

Posted by bucifer

after playing Skyrim, this looks like total crap

Posted by Will_M

I hope they are done with major WoW expansions once this content patch is released and start putting more mans on whatever new project they're working on. C'mon Blizz, just give me a taste!
