Does part of this feel like if a bunch of Europeans wanted to make a Final Fantasy game? That's the sense I'm getting... Could be cool.

This is by Spiders, who recently made Mars: War Logs and Bound by Flame. They've gotten markedly better with every game they've made...

Actually really looking forward to this one, I think it could be a surprise hit for RPG fans.

What's up with weird remixes of well-known songs used for trailers lately? This, Bowie in Infinite Warfare, that Florence and the Machine version of that one song for Final Fantasy XV, Glitch Mob Remix of Seven Nation Army for Battlefield 1...

I know the company gets some flak for lower than AAA production values but they have been fairly fun to play middle tier games.

Same. I have a massive soft-spot for Spiders games, and especially love the story behind the weirdness of Mars: War Logs' translation. I hope they get it right this time and slowly improve on each one. They actually do a pretty decent job of incorporating allusions to classic French literature, and scratch that mid-tier ARPG itch I have. My only problem is that they sometimes shoot a bit too high, and it makes the supposedly "big" moments feel silly.

Sequel to Mars War Logs? I saw mention of late game Technomancers in that game but they didn't really do anything with it, should be an interesting budget title.

Yes! I get way more excited by the weird stuff Spiders and Cyanide make than anything by BioWare in the past decade.

This gives me the vibe of a mid-2000's 7/10 game. Potentially cool concepts, generic-looking design and janky visuals.

Maybe it'll be great. Gonna wait for a quicklook.

I second the B-game vibe, and I'm hoping it is a halfway decent game to play. The industry could use a fun, semi-janky mid-tier underdog to shake things up.

I would really love this to be good but chances are high that's it's going to be the European equivalent of a whiny teen-focused JRPG. I super hope I'm wrong.

Is this some kind of sequel to Mars: War Logs? I vaguely recall something about Technomancy in that game, and the main character here looks vaguely familar...

I genuinely hope that there's some unintentionally hilarious voice acting in this like there was in War Logs.

It takes place within the same fiction/world, but it isn't a direct sequel. Timeline-wise, it's taking place at around the same time as the events in Mars: War Logs. Completely different characters and such, so you don't need to know anything about the first one to play this one.

Was that House of the Rising Sun? I kind of want to find a copy of that song now.

I hope this game reviews well. I think the premise has some potential.

Seems like an interesting second take at the setting. Hopefully they ;earned some stuff. I went back to Mars when I heard they redid the voice acting that the Bombcrew laughed out of the room. Seems like an earnest bunch of developers so I'll check this out.

@wandrecanada: LOL I was just gonna say. Looks like someone took the Borderlands 1 opening and forgot to put on the cell shader.

These Spiders games never execute very well, but i'm impressed that a smaller dev is willing to take on big 3D RPGs, hope they keep it up.

Mars War Logs was one of the most tedious, badly playing, poorly written, poorly acted, unintelligible, un-fun experiences I ever suffered though. I am astonished there are people here who liked it, but sure, whatever suits you. I won't be playing anything built on that pedigree, however.
