I hope this brings some updates to help re-ignite the playerbase on PC. I was so excited to do mech stuff when I got my multi-monitor setup and I just couldn't find a game...

Yes! I loved Hawken on the PC and was bummed that the community died off. Here's hoping it comes back with the console.

I still play it sometimes. Fun game, but it hasn't recieved a meaningful update for a while now. Hopefully the console release will also mean some extra work on the game itself.

Hawken is great and I wish it had caught on more, but the micro transactions turned me away a bit. Not sure how I will like playing this with a controller.

Played Hawken quite a bit in 2013-14. I stopped playing when a patch hit that adjusted chassis health limits which I felt turned the game into more of a generic mech-flavored FPS rather than something more team-focused. I never came back to take a look at any changes since then so I'll have to have another look at it when it releases.

Not every Free to Play game is bad, you know. Even on consoles.

Yeah I guess I should give the game a chance cuz it does look cool. I've disliked most of the f2p systems I've experienced so far though so I tend to avoid them now.

Played a lot on PC, always thought it was underrated and deserved more attention than it got. Hopefully consoles will give it a new lease of life. See you in the arena.

Hawken is a cool game and I enjoyed the couple-dozen hours I put into it after the F2P transition. But nowadays it's really difficult to recommend over something like Titanfall.

Titanfall's in-mech gameplay is very similar to Hawken, is of equal quality, and the interplay between mechs and on-foot makes Titanfall a more interesting package. And if the pure mech-vs-mech combat is all you want, you should really be playing Quake.

Hawken lived good life, then it died and the world moved on. I wish it would stay dead.

@purplepartyrobot: I remember when they gutted the customization system. I was never able to get my finely tuned war machine back to its former glory with the new, much blander system. Hopefully they do some new work on it for this.

I believe Hawken was F2P from its inception; maybe you mean when it came to Steam? A bunch of people jumped on board then.

---

The problem with Hawken, as I saw it, is that it's quite a skill heavy game, where a good player can just completely dominate average players to the point where the game wasn't really fun except for the most hardcore of players. I have rarely seen an MP game with so many completely one-sided matches. Almost anyone trying the game for the first time was immediately scared away by noob-stomping jerks - even when it came to Steam and got a bunch of fresh blood, it seemed to bleed away those new players very quickly. I tried earnestly playing the game for around 15 hours and never really got good at it or had much fun. I love the aesthetics though and desperately wish they had been applied to a single player game instead.

Perhaps on consoles where the input method may be more of a skill equalizer, it will find greater success.

I liked it a lot. Gameplay was fun and did a good job of balancing shooter and mech combat. It'll be a good fit on console.
