'Fact from Myth' Explores the Mysteries of Rapture

I don't mind that this doesn't really show anything from Infinite's Burial at Sea DLC. I just like this aesthetic too much to care.

I may not care for the game, but damn I love these trailers. They really nail the aesthetic perfectly.

Who gives a shit. I bought it knowing full well what I was getting into. I'm glad Irrational is taking their time and not just shitting it out to make a deadline.

I'm with you. I watched the ones leading up to Infinite's release many times. I love the whole "documentary style" they've got going on with these. Looking forward to the remaining DLC.

To quote a preview over at Eurogamer...

"Even if you are in the mood though, this is a seriously short episode. While nobody could call Burial At Sea lazy, the money and effort dripping from every pixel, there's only about an hour and a half of actual game here - and that's if you savour it for all it's worth."

That hour and a half is somewhat a major bummer, but then again, I've already paid my Season Pass ages ago, so...no point in complaining, I guess!

That 'savouring' kind of irritates me. I almost do not mind irrational from resting on it's laurels, but I do believe I bought a season pass for something. Well, I can wait I guess, something is happening here, and I do not mind it's back at Rapture. Passive aggressive grrrrr.

While I agree with the notion of taking more time to craft a better quality product, I also wish we could simply drop the whole "season pass" facade and call them DLC pre-orders. I only say this because I tend to be a stickler for details and believe that if you put something out that indicates a certain release date you should keep to that dat;, but when you get down to it, whether you call it a Season Pass, DLC or Expansion Pack - the nomenclature is really not that all important as the actual final product.

They did a mockumentary pertaining to Columbia in the exact same style but called the show "Truth from Legend" instead.

If you liked those, I suggest checking out "The Goblin Man of Norway" which was another faked documentary that was made for Too Human. I never played the game, but I still got a kick out of the short film (it was originally released in several parts attached to the end of developer diary videos).

Will there be more audio logs in place of actual story telling and world building? I bet there will be.

I find it bizarre that people disbelieve Rapture's existence. I mean, the wealthiest, brightest and most ambitious men were said to have gone to Rapture, surely... people knew where they went?

If you want a whole show of that, try to find In Search of... with Leonard Nimoy. It is more or less the show these documentary shorts are based on.

I don't remember how secret Rapture was, but yeah, there was a significant "brain drain" of scientists and engineers and artists to Rapture, according to the fiction.

Also, didn't Rapture import some goods from the outside world? There is a shipping dock area early in BioShock 1 (complete with wooden wharfs even though that makes no sense because all shipping would be done by submersibles and bathyspheres), which implies some amount of trade with the outside world. Isn't that a lot of what Fontaine did? It sounds like some smugglers above water would've known about Rapture.

Wow, I watched this whole thing just now. Great shit. Surprisingly solid acting. Never knew this existed. Makes you wish the game ended up being better.
