Just finished the game yesterday.  I wonder if the DLC will solve some of the plot holes of the ending...

Posted by Kbm600

This guy's accent is pretty cool, it's not as annoying as I thought it would be. I liked this interview, I'm glad to know they won't be milking Heavy Rain's story in sequels.

The cart part was pretty amusing.

Looking forward to playing this game.

This guy is kinda weird. Here are some quotes from his little interview in the recent issue of Game Informer:

"Looking back at my career [I am still a little but young to do this], there is nothing I am really proud of. I feel my career is incredibly slow and painful to be honest."

"If power goes out in my home, I would spend the afternoon playing with my kids, playing piano, and reading a good book. I could live without computers and video games."

Looks like a cool guy.

Really great interview. Proves once again why Giant Bomb are the best at what they do.

This.
Found it really interesting.

yeah the game definitely has some plot holes, but it is still a great story.

I enjoyed that interview. Still need to play heavy rain, its on my lovefilm list.

All the graphics and QTEs in the won't make the voice acting any less jarring and immersion breaking.

Hey David, set your games in France if you're gonna use FRENCH VOICE ACTORS.

Its not like he is a gamer, he is simply an artist using videogames as a medium to tell his story. No doubt his career is painful, he spends 4 years at a time making a game. That is a LONG time.

I rarely ran into any voice acting issues.  Except the swearing, it was always off a bit.

Phenomenal interview!

Did Ryan just spoil parts of Heavy Rain? Or was he just kidding about the super powers.

I don't know if that is a joke because of Indigo Prophecy....

Posted by mosdl

Also, US February sales for the game was 219,300.  Not too shabby.

Posted by sdornan

I really like the guy. I don't understand all the hate that gets directed at him.

Posted by Hef

And those 219,300 was only one day in the reporting period

great interview, and very interesting guy.

David Cage's accent's mix of French and British freaks me out...

@mosdl: The random accents on American born characters is hard to ignore, it's like the arrow in the FedEX logo.

I never noticed the arrow until you make me take another look. Mind blown.

@Yzzerdd: it never bothered me much, only a couple of places (the bartender dude in Ari especially) were blatant.

I did find the game a bit racist - one black character and he was quite stereotypical.  Someone should tally european vs north american games on that!

great interview. david seems like a really cool guy. it's weird considering all this weird and pretentious stuff he said before heavy rain came out. almost like a completely different person ;d

No plans for a sequel? That's a relief. Heavy Rain felt more like a stand alone product, not some annualized franchise.

Welllllllll.........no.

I hope they release a patch soon, I can't load my game because it freezes when I try....

Heavy Rain's format would be great for a Dexter game. Being able to hear Dexter's thoughts and being able to experience and control Dexter's secret would be pretty fun.

David Cage's voice sounds like a combination of someone's voice reversed and a computer text-to-speech thing. It's cool.

Posted by Lambert

Maybe people should ask him why there is a horrible voice-acting and dialogue in a game that emphasizes human interaction? How about those plot-holes in a game that emphasizes story? Also, why do I need to press so many buttons to do a simple and mundane things? (Shaving for example).

I thought that this game was a true breakthrough in story telling.  I hope that these guys get to something new and unique next.  But I also hope some other games are inspired by this to tell their own stories better within other genres.

Posted by Milkman

Quantic Dream was really close to making a really important game for the advancement of video game story telling but it's too bad that it had so many weird technical issues and voice acting stuff. The game is still a great story and it tells that story in a very fluid and comprehensive way but the actual video game part just feels lacking.

Heavy Rain movie...wouldn't that be kind of redundant?

You mean he's unsatisfied in his career and has interests outside of sitting his ass in front of a TV like children and arts? Nope sounds like a normal adult to me...

I really really want some kind of dramatic sports game now.  You play a player with social anxiety disorder or something.

It's David "Jake "Video Games" Rodkin" Cage!

You can never unsee that arrow... It's been years and I still see it every damn time!

Yeah its too bad the first DLC was pre order only.

Posted by FuzzYLemoN

David Cage is an interesting guy to listen to.

I wonder if I am the only other person in here that understands what you just said. The Wizzaaaaaaarrd!
Edited by Vigorousjammer

I just realized...
a lot of the little touches on the animations in heavy rain are all very similar to how David actually moves himself...

the folded arms... the head bobbing... it's like he's a Heavy Rain character!
maybe that says something about how realistic Heavy Rain's animations were.

Honestly, I'm glad to hear there's not gonna be a sequel... I'm pretty interested to see what he's gonna do next... and what exactly he meant by online...possibly some heavy story based online co-op game where you play as one of four characters while the other 3 are played by other people simultainiously?

Mr. Cage seems like an awesome guy.

Posted by immike

Very deep thoughts coming from this gentleman. Thank you for your time sir!

Posted by RoyaleWifCheese

He's French, so he says "genre" the way it's meant to be said. Well done on Heavy Rain, sir.

Edited by ptys

He was obviously jet lagged... but he seems a bit bumbed about "Heavy Rain"?.. Hey it's not THAT bad David...

Very humble, down-to-earth perspective for a man solely interested in making games with a more artistic and narrative focus. The future of gaming is upon us.

Posted by Funkydupe

David Cage did well to release Heavy Rain - good luck to him on future projects!

Well they could've made a movie where you had to press the play button every ten seconds, but I'm not sure that would've sold as well.
