I'm getting particularly tired of everyone trying to cash in on the MOBA market.

Posted by gerkencody

The M83 is a little jarring to me.

MOBA This.

Posted by PopeShabooda

This is a fantastic idea, and I'm very excited to see exactly how Gearbox will turn it into a horrible disappointment.

Posted by Flacracker

Their trailer makes it looks like a horde mode game.

Posted by Sweep

That looks like Dynasty Warriors.

Dynasty Warriors moba. You heard it here first.

Art style is decent but ehhhh another moba doesn't do much for me. Wish companies would try harder, then again gearbox has made all its money by ripping off other games and selling lies so hard to expect innovation from them.

Posted by SomberOwl

I've said this on other sites already. But if this game isn't released until 2016 announcing it is just dumb. I'm so sick of companies announcing games so far off in the future.

Even if this game comes in fall 2015, that's still over a year away. What's the point. This is dumb.

Ugh !

I like the song :D. MOBA's are the new thang now i guess. O.o

Edited by TastyCakesMcG33

This could be interesting I guess. But as someone who is heavily into MOBA's, and after playing League of Legends, Dota 2, Smite, Dawngate, Strife, and Heroes of the Storm, I can pretty well say that people who play MOBA's enjoy the more complex ones. The problem is that once the market gets too flooded and every game tries to be complex, no one wants to spend 50+ hours relearning basic item builds and mechanics. Every game but the already established ones like League and Dota 2 end up feeling shallow. I'll be interested to see where this game goes.

A FPS MOBA could be interesting. Except... absolutely nothing about that trailer implied any kind of First Person-ness.

I agree that M83 feels a little... out of place here? Even if it is a nice song. MOBAs just kind of feel like "this generation's" (Whatever that actually means) MMO. Kind of crazy, really.

Oh good. Dated indie + MOBAs. Sign me out.

Dynasty Warriors moba. You heard it here first.

I mean... I think you just legitimized and reinvigorated the Dynasty Warriors franchise with one single sentence, if they made good on that.

List of things I am not going to play right now: another effing moba. Point two. A fantasy genre game from gearbox.

Otherwise I'm all for seeing what gearbox has to bring to the table. Just not this.

I like the art style and character designs. Everything else about the trailer was terrible.

Hopefully the game is good though.

i am on my lunch reading this and nearly spit out my food

That robot looks straight out of Sir You Are Being Hunted... I really don't care for MOBAs to begin with, and I really don't know how much people who play DOTA or League would actually switch to a new game. I also imagine a Moba in first person being difficult, isn't a big part of a moba surveying the level to strategize? I don't know, seems like a big dumb risk for Gearbox. Which they seem to be really good at getting themselves into.

I want to throw up...

The trailer looked alright, too bad Gearbox sucks at making video games.

So, after watching that and reading some of the details, is it just me or is anyone else getting a bit of a Super Monday Night Combat vibe from it?

Also, calling dibs on the dapper looking robot with the gun cane now.

ugh.

Is anyone even playing Super Monday Night Whatever anymore?

So everyone's gradually making a MOBA. I guess we're never getting Brad back.

How can something be both an FPS and a MOBA..?

There were several first person camera angles in there.

I'm going to main the Gentleman Robot because he's got a swanky-ass billycock.

How would it be different from TF2? Is that not a MOBA?

Posted by bobabrowncoat

No. More. MOBAs.

I have to say the amount of deliberate failure or incompetency wished upon Gearbox is lousy. Compared to a reasoned criticism or saying nothing at all, that kind of negativity is unwarranted. If one does not like Gearbox's attitude or games, that's fine and expressing it as such is fine but to say that they should or are bound to fail categorically because they're making another game does little to add much of anything.

And for the record I am pessimistic toward Gearbox these days given their handling of the Duke franchise, my personal disappointment with BL2, and now the Pre-Sequel and using up TellTale's good talents on Borderlands. Still, games are goddamn hard to make and take too much work to even make most bad ones. So the thought of wishing failure on anyone in this industry is getting into unfortunate territory.

They already made one of those. It's called Super Monday Night Combat.

It's okay, I guess.

@stumpsock: give him a break, he only has 144 characters.

I'd like to nominate "Hobby-Grade" as the worst new marketing phrase of 2014.

BBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The art looks pretty neat. I've never played a MOBA, they're just a little too intimidating for me, and from everything I've read/heard the communities are usually pretty hostile to new players; but, if this is "casual" enough I might give it a try.

Posted by Torabi

More MOBAs. Greaaaat.

Posted by PopeShabooda

@bacongames: In the last four years, Gearbox has developed two of the worst-reviewed games of all time and one sequel that was merely disappointing. Is there any reason not to expect more of the same here?

Posted by MrBubbles

If this trailer is how those characters will look and how the environments will look then I'm totally into this. As a huge fan of Dota 2 I'm always ready to give a new MOBA a chance.

Posted by Mr_Creeper

Cool trailer, I guess, but I've no interest in MOBA's and even less in this one.

Posted by Spitznock

This does not interest me in any way whatsoever, but at least if they're trying to get in on the moba craze they're at least doing something slightly different with it I guess.

Love this!

Their trailer makes it looks like a horde mode game.

But, this. I would need to see something that shows what the gameplay might be like before I can make a guess at an opinion.

Cue the transition from cool action CGI cutscene to an overhead map view of drones mindlessly walking towards you in lanes as you stare at your cooldowns more than the screen itself.

Posted by Savitry

that's quite a soundtrack choice. don't see a lot of M83 in game trailers.
