This game looks like shit now. The game looked amazing back when Greg Kasavin was part of that team, and they had that trailer going around which was mind-blowing. You know, before they decided to reboot all of the character designs and make everything look super generic. And, Nolan North.

@Makoto_Mizuhara_Sakamoto:

Exactly what they are going for.

I am surprised how interested I am in the game the more I see. This wasn't really on my radar of things to look for.

looks pretty fucking intense, but couldnt they have increased the polygon count or something? Cause the visuals look dated as shit.

I am intruiged by the whole heart of darkness schtick, but at the same time I feel there is a dissonance between the message and the fact that this is ultimately an "entertainment product." The main purpose of mainstream games is to entertain and thus, make a lot of money.. But since the gameplay mechanics are based around shootin' dudes yet the moral of the story is that shootin' dudes will screw up your brain, yet you are supposed to be entertained by the act of shootin' dudes it goes against what they are trying to say. Call of Duty 4 had a similar thing going on, I felt a strong anti-war sentiment, but the bulk of the game (again, another game which is intended as entertainment,) was shooting dudes..

This's like a movie trailer, why don't they just show the entire game, start to finish, while they're at it?

The only thing that concerns me is the single-player will probably be something like four hours longs... and a tacked on multiplayer that won't even come close to matching Battlefield 3 so I won't bother with it.

I'm sure it'll be an awesome game, but I want a solid 10-12 hour single-player shooter... Multiplayer is owned by Call of Duty and Battlefield in this genre. When will developers learn...?

I'll reserve judgement though as it does look pretty awesome at the moment.

Kinda feeling the same way about the game. I think they should probably skip competitive MP and stick with a Co-op mode. I realize Co-op modes are the new flavor-of-the-month, but I feel it could work here.

Oh well, we will just have to wait and see.

Yeah, that trailer wouldn't have been sufficient without a "go go go." I can accept that.

Take a gander at the very first trailer released (it's on the site). Those visuals look awesome, and so does everything else. The more I see of this game, the more I think they spent two years (when the game went completely silent) trying to change the direction of the game instead of polishing it. It feels less like a large-scale moral quandary and more like a corridor target-practice shooter.

EDIT: Having just watched the original trailer, I have spotted what feels off with how this game looks now. It's the lighting. The original trailers showcased awesome atmospheric lighting. Here, everything is super bright and blown out. Did they switch engines? Is that where two years went? Can somebody confirm this because it's really bothering me.

The story looks interesting as hell but I hope the gameplay stacks up. The engine looks a bit janky just from this video.

im so stoked that this game is still a thing thats coming out.

EDIT: getting a bit of an Apocalypse Now! vibe at certain moments in that trailer. they were going for that right?

That's what i was thinking too.

Ya except I think they may be referencing the book "The Heart of Darkness" that Apocalypse Now was based on as it it was written by Joseph Conrad which sounds a lot like the "John Conrad" referenced in the video.

All I heard was John Connor.

The line for this was ridiculous at PAX. It seems to have potential, but I hope it doesn't become another generic shooter. Also, is that Nolan North in this ?

They need to work on their lip sync a bit more if they say they're focusing on story so heavily.

Story-wise, looks really neat.

Gameplay-wise, looks like a chest-high walls simulator.

A bit torn.

Part of me despises the implications of the game's setting but I know I'm among the few as far as that goes -- I am however happy to see more, uh, sand use, in games. There's always been a real dearth of desert games, so here's to them advancing the concept.
