I've been invaded! So much like Souls as others have remarked, not only in the story (marked one, outcast as savior), but in gameplay (healing nutriment, levers, back attack crits).

That said, it looks great! I'll take a Souls clone if it's done right and expands the genre.

The sound design in this game is driving me crazy. I hope there's a lot of filler sound effects for the "alpha" version, but I won't hold my breath.

This looks somewhere in-between Darksiders and the Souls games. Slightly faster, more arcadey and less clunky than Souls, not as combo-focused as Darksiders with a similar artstyle. But also kind of generic enough that I'm not really interested in it yet.

If the Souls games legacy is going to be more technical action-RPG games with less button-mashy then things are looking pretty good all around.

Looks really cool. That boss battle looked really intense. Seems it has that really rare quality of a game that makes you feel like you're facing an equally-matched opponent. I'm happy to see a whole other take on the Souls formula. Hopefully they can sharpen up some of the out-of-combat animations, though; they looked kinda janky, but it is pre-alpha, of course.

Promises to be next great RPG (action-RGP). My attention on this game grow up after see gameplay. Combat style is very interesting, graphic on hight level. Yes I want to play on this game. I hope so this will be release soon.

Lords of the Partical Effects

This just makes me want Dark Souls 3 on a current console.

Basically my first thought was "Darksiders meets Dark Souls". It looks like there's potential for it to be decent but it could go either way. Wouldn't complain about an awesome new action RPG though, here's hopin'.

At least people will have a new game to play on XBone and PS4.

Why would they make two very similar 3rd person action LOTR games at exactly the same time?

Monolith seems to be making the more interesting game, but for people who arn't aware won't they confuse them? If this game is too generic and pushes people away, won't the other game suffer?

Looks like Dark Souls... probably gonna get this, but I'll wait for the reviews.

All that animation looks insanely smooth. It's a shame that the sounds of impact while in combat aren't quite up to the same level - at least in the build at display here.

But yeah, it seems they weren't kidding when they said they took inspiration from the Souls series.
I hope the backdrop is more interesting that it seems like on the surface level. I'll keep an eye out regardless.

This seems like the inevitable "more casual" dark souls I've been expecting for awhile now. I was just expecting, like, five of them by now.

Character design looks sadly unimaginative. Sipping from the pool of WoW, Darksiders and so on.

Weirdly enough, I'm getting more of a Darksiders feel out of this. Eh. I'll keep an eye on it. I do like me some action RPGs.

I'd think (hopefully, at least) that there'll be at least a few games released on PS4 before fall 2014, which seems to be the release 'date' for this game.

Dark Souls meets Kingdoms of Amalur

It's not just how bleak the world is for me, it's more about just how extremely well realized it is.

Boletaria and Lordran feel more like real places than the vast majority of game worlds.

Because of Tomeks' voice, I immediately think of Witcher though.

Anyway, I wasn't interested in this until now, but the combat looks pretty good. Graphics are dope. Nice animations.

City Interactive does not have a good track record, and I can already imagine how terribly cliched the story/universe will be, but games with similar problems can still be fun.

EDIT: It turns out they are collaborating with Deck13, the makers of Venetica, Ankh, and Blood Knights. I'm not sure what to make of that. I know Blood Knights is almost universally hated, but Venetica is apparently okay.

@fisk0: Nah you're not alone. I'm not the biggest fan of Bergman (prefer Resnais, gna gna gna gna), but I love the Bermanesque mood of Dark Souls. It felt unique and how the gamepley being hard inform it is really well done.

I like what I saw

The lack of response from either the player or enemies when they get hit really puts me off of this game. It could be cool, but it looks like a pretty shameless dark souls rip off.

So, am I the only one who enjoys the souls games (and the rest of From Software's back catalogue) for their nearly Ingmar Bergman-esque extremely bleak and depressing tone rather than the combat?

I mean, the combat is fine and all, but that's not why I play those games - rather I play them to get away from the constant empowerment and "you're the good guy, you're doing the right thing!!" stuff from every other game today.

There are certainly worse games to take inspiration from, but I'd rather see others take inspiration from their narrative and atmosphere than the mechanics.

I'll give it a try. Not like there is much else on my ps4...

Yeah I could be down for this. I would like for a lot more games to take ques from dark souls. But not to many.

@hassun: I get the Warhammer comparison, but Blizzard? It's not colorful and not chunky enough.

It looks like Zelda with too much emphasis on combat, or Dark souls without enough emphasis on combat, all under the umbrella of a horribly trite and cliche fantasy world. Count me out, sorry.

@sasnake: I sure have and I sure hate it. I guess I should just say Warhammer because that's where Blizzard got most of its ideas but still.
