He choked that girl to death! It's like they're taking this straight out of my life.

Amazing. That ratbomb is such a cool idea.

A glorious screen capture - between this and the Tekken Tag one, it's been a fine day for those.

Games are back, then - Tekken tomorrow, then Torchlight and Borderlands next week, and Dishonored soon after. Good stuff.

this seems really promising

wonder if it'll run smoothly on my 3-year-old laptop, tho

My sense of dread and please don't be Brink-ishness increases 10% with every developer diary.

These are becoming quite repetitive now.

You can play it without killing anyone... Obviously the guy playing the game during the trailer wanted to stab everyone!

@FunExplosions:

Then he hugged that little girl to death. Just like right out of my life!

Buy our game, it's unique and no other game is like it. You have choices, and some choices are good and some are even bad. Some choices are big and some are small. Buy our game, I had this one moment where I used an ability in the game and it was like no one game that exists, it's very unique.

We made the first hitman style game where you don't' have to kill anyone, kinda like splintercell or hitman or a few other games, but our game looks kinda like bioshock and half life. It's unique. We live for people doing things in our game that surprises us, like when they use an ability with another ability in the game, we didn't think they'd do that.

whaaaaaaa

How is this anything like Brink, lol?

Posted by haggis

It actually looks like a decent game, and the more I see of it the more I like the idea of it. Will I like the actual game? I'm starting to get the sense that I probably won't, kinda like I felt before and then right after I picked up Borderlands. I should have loved that game, but I didn't. I don't trust myself on this one. Demo, then reviews, then maybe a purchase.

I loved Deus Ex: HR and this looks like that plus a lot of more interesting abilities and less email reading. Hopefully I'm not let down. Dishonored, Borderlands 2, X-COM, and Assassin's Creed III - my free time this fall is looking pretty full.

@haggis: You confuse me.

I've felt this way too. I think it's just the character designs.

I gotta stop watching these cause the days aren't moving any faster.

yup same thing here, right down to borderlands.

People rarely make the thief, deus ex, system shock, hell even bioshock style of game anymore. The first person 'thinker'. Options seem to have taken the backseat to spectacle and huge game development studio's trying to 1-up eachothers 'first person helecopter crash'.

It's because games with lot's of options are FAR harder to make than the typical game. And the risk/reward in 2012 is in favour of a game that perfects a single mechanic. I hope dishonoured get's credit for being something more than the average game. Even if not every feature is perfect.

I want to see more 'utility belt' games.

Posted by JackG100

@whitespider: I find it insulting that you mention Bioshock in the same sentence as those other great games... in my opinion all Bioshock had was nice scenery, other than that it is a vastly overrated game. And it didnt require any thinking as you just respawned a few yards away whenever you happened to die, which was pretty hard to do, considering how easy the game was.

Edited by whitespider

@JackG100: I actually agree with you. The world was the highlight of bioshock, the options where lesser than deus ex/etc. The reason I included bioshock was because the two games (dishonoured and bioshock) share the trait of having a unique world. And in this climate of imagination (aka, very little). It's refreshing to see something new, even if it's only a certain aspect (worst case scenario when it comes to dishonoured)

It's the fact that these videos make the game look completely awesome (ie: Brink), but then a tiny part of my brain asks the question "why so many dev diaries?". Hopefully they're draining a marketing budget and not trying to overhype a disappointing turd (ie: Brink).
