Woot!

Posted by poisonmonkey

Am i first?

Posted by Shadowjester

Boy he sounds really excited about this.

Posted by wolf_blitzer85

Oh man Quick Reflex Button Prompts? We truly are in the future.

Posted by ZeekDaGeek

Is this a game trailer or are you pitching a game to me?

Edited by Packie

Heh.

They should get the guy who narrates Rockstar's trailers. Seriously, that dude can make the blandest, most boring crap sound sophisticated and revolutionary. (Not a dig against Rockstar nor FF)

Posted by Phatmac

Cool story bro.

Posted by DonChipotle

I am hyped for this game. Or I was. Then I heard the new Chocobo theme and found my hype wasn't as strong as I thought.

Still, as someone who liked FF13, I think this game looks better. Awful music choices aside.

Posted by Zelyre

This guy really makes me miss the DSI Downloads section of the bombcast.

Dude can't even be paid to sound excited about XIII-2.

Posted by Lively

So, non-linear world exploration, mini-games, quick-time events, and Pokémon. Got it.

Posted by spazmaster666

This voiceover guy has got to be the most bland and monotonous voiceover guy I've ever heard. I'm still pretty excited about the game since they seemed to have made some meaningful changes but damn this was not the right way to present them.

Posted by Vexxan

Still excited!

Posted by Delta_Ass

This guy could make a 15 car highway pileup sound boring.

Posted by Galiant

While I enjoyed XIII, I feel like I've had enough.

Posted by Excast

Lost me at "smash hit"

Listen to what he's been tasked with saying. Whoever wrote that shit sure didn't read it aloud at any point. I'm sure the VO guy was more excited about getting through the session without swallowing his tongue.

Posted by Rawson

His entire explanation of the battle system should have ended with, "...but there's the Auto-Chain attack which just picks the best skills to use every single time, so just mash A until you win the game." Square-Enix still doesn't quite understand why FFXIII got such a poor reaction.

Posted by Dagbiker

Is this guy just reading the design doc?

Yeah, I think calling that game even a minor success is pushing it...

Posted by Camosid

I really dug 13's battles and I am pretty stoked for this game. Feels like they just took the engine and battle system and spent their time making open areas and such.

Posted by ExplodingTuba

Anytime the selling point of a video game is "... towns that are filled with non-playable characters..." marketing has sincerely dropped the ball. Then again, Final Fantasy XIII-2 might just be that bad that NPCs are something to gloat about.

Posted by tactis

great QTEs...thats what we need....

Posted by LegendaryChopChop

This series needs a reboot.

Posted by HeavyDuty32

Great job Jeremy.

Posted by redbliss

I dont know why I am excited about this game, but I am. What's funny about that is that I have never played a single FF game, not even FF 13.

Posted by Skanker

@ExplodingTuba: Late 80's all over again, why complain? People keep gloating about the 'golden era' of videogames... here's the result.

I'll hate this game on release and rent it game in 5 years and only hate it more.

Posted by MutenMiller

Finally, I've been after a game with some good Do-What-You-Want Gameplay forever!

Pretty much all the things absent from XIII that players claimed ruined the game for them.

Even in this trailer you can catch a glimpse of the exciting town NPC quests you can get "retrieve item XYZ"

Posted by lokey013

While the voiceover was a snorefest I'm still curious about the game...man so many other games to finish before then....bargh

Posted by Orange_Pork

Will there be dress spheres? I was told there would be dress spheres.

Posted by Lazyaza

Such innovative things like, npcs you can talk to, quicktime events, and cinematic gameplay. It saddens me how much time and money still gets wasted on this franchise, especially when they could be making something like a new Front Mission. God what I would give for a new Front Mission. Fucking Square.

Posted by MikkaQ

Did this guy record each word separately or something?

What the hell is wrong with him?

It's sold more than both of the Batman games.
Posted by Dark_Lord_Spam

This guy is saying anything he can but "quick-time".

Posted by gaggle64

It's the raw, uncontrollable excitement in his voice that really sells it.

Posted by Flappy

I'm under the impression that this is what the original FFXIII was supposed to be.  As a person that spent 80~ hours on the original, this looks much more refined.   Hell, it even looks like a legit Final Fantasy title.

Posted by Abndak

Quick reflex button prompts? Can't fucking wait...

Edited by DharmaBum

Dude just read the entire manual cover to cover.

They released a new Front Mission last year. But I'm assuming you want a turn-based strategy game, not a shitty Armored Core.

VO Guy:''The sequel to the 'Smash-Hit' RPG FF13 is almost here...''

WHaHaHaHahahaha! Oooh Hoo Hoo HaHahahaha...! *Gasping for air* Haaa Ha Ha ha ha...! *reaches for the heart* Haa haha... Aaargh!!! *Died of laughing*

Posted by believer258

I... didn't hear anything exciting, interesting, or original out of that whole thing. Just a TON of gameplay mechanics that we've had - and been bored of - for a very long time now.

Didn't play the original so I can't give an opinion on it, other than I don't think I'll be getting the original.

And if I'm not mistaken, there weren't many towns in the original at all. So I guess towns with tons of NPCs/fetch quest givers is a bit of an improvement.

At least the guy talking sounded like he was really into it.

Posted by Veektarius

It sure looks like you're stuck with those two totally repulsive characters for the whole game.

Posted by kerse

It sounds like they listened and put back all the things that make a FF game in, but its a little strange that they're playing them up like its innovative stuff. Now hopefully the story is good, I can't wait to see why Snow is barely involved in any of these videos, weren't they like married or something? Can't remember.

@GunnBjorn: Well it is by far the best selling role-playing game, Eastern or Western, of the generation so far, like it or not.

Posted by shamroll

Lol "To make combat even more exciting, major battles throughout the game will know feature cinematic action sequences"

Wow, that's some thick PR bull. It's a quick-time event, it's nothing new or exciting.

This was clearly written by someone who doesn't give a F' about video games.

Posted by Aetheldod

Can I just change Ceras haido? I Fuckin hate pigtails like that , and as for the rest of the stuff , nice going folks now we got a regular ass jrpg :/

Posted by Philzpilz

Sweet lord, is this some kind of challenge to make the worst promo ever? I liked FF13, and I'm sure I'll like this game, but this is the most stilted bullcrap ever

Posted by SongWriter1987

FFXIII, now with QTE's!!

Posted by StriderNo9

They really seem to have listened to their audience.

Posted by RuneseekerMireille

I'm surprised people are surprised that the announcer said FFXIII was a smash hit. Look up the numbers; it was.

I, for one, can't wait for this game to come out. Seems like they're making this game into a proper JRPG, and adding some refinements to the great combat system in the first game. If you've fought any of those megabosses in the first game, you would realize just how nice some quick time events would be to break up some of the longer fights.
