Looks okay... I guess. Very Halo Reachy, looks like they completlely took the idea of assassinations.

Low framerate?

Makes me want a good sci-fi shooter.

I think he is trying to say that war never changes.

So studio's like Harmonix and Bizarre creations get closed down, but developers still get to make these shitty fucking games? Really? Really? Really? Really now?
WTF

Posted by jrlyon

Did anyone play this? Was it good?

Posted by owl_of_minerva

This trailer was like a slide show, the engine was visibly creaking under the weight of its derivative mechanics and unimpressive setting. If you need a SF shooter, it looks like Vanquish is the best choice for now.

I think you are right. Also, RACISM IS BAD.

Make a profitable, secondary FPS and you can coast for life!
That said, the first game wasn't too bad and the developer carried out an involving PC beta test where they had IRC channels set up to take and address user questions. I would've liked the game more if the player character moved faster during combat and had more weapons and equipment to use at any given moment. Heh, that's roughly a Tribes successor.

"Frame Rate... heh, what a joke."

@Edin8999:  I don't believe Harmonix is being shut down. Also, warneverchanges blah blah blah
Posted by weegieanawrench

Wow, it's shocking how alike this game is to Halo: Reach. Is this a big leap from the first Section 8? I've never played it.

The game sold 216.000 copies.

Thats nothing,
Games like this should not be made, just wasting money.

Reminds me of Unreal 2 MXP with a terrible framerate!

Edited by JackSukeru

Liked the trailer, though the game looks meh.

Edit: actually, the game looks alright, but the framerate is sooo bad.

Looks like Halo but even worse. And yeah, looks like a flip book.

Posted by Deusoma

If it's still multiplayer-focused, I still don't care.

Posted by IcySandman

Hopefully they correct the problems from the first one, I had fun with the Beta but the combat felt kinda meh, and there was no real replayability..

The video on other sites isn't choppy like that, so I think the Giant Bomb techs need to re-encode it.

Look at that frame rate, oh man.

@Edin8999: Actually dude 216,000 copies is pretty good for a new IP shooter. If the game I am working on was to sell 216,000 copies I would be a very happy man indeed.

"there is nothing evolved about fighting"
"Combat evolved"
"War, war never changes"
"War has changed"

These games just can't agree on this shit.

First  one wasn't 'shitty'. Sorry.

First game flopped.  Post-flop strategy?  Let's make a sequel!!!

Posted by Scooper

There's no excuse to have a shitty framerate in a trailer. Pre-render it if you have to make it smooth but if I see a trailer with anything but great framerate I pretty much always pass on the game.

Posted by Branthog

It's not APB. At least that's something. I guess.

So, fine sir, if I were to summarize your statement concisely, it would be...

WAR, WAR NEVER CHANGES

So I wasnt the only one who thought this had to much Halo on it

Section 8 isn't dead? Huh, that's really cool actually. I held onto my copy hoping for this, and now I feel justified. The first game definitely had potential, the way I saw it. The demo sold me on it which tells me there was something really good at its core. In the end, I stopped playing because there wasn't much content and I got bored. Expanded in a sequel, could be good.

Yes, this game looks like Halo: Reach. NO, SECTION 8 DOES NOT PLAY LIKE HALO. IT DOESN'T. AT ALL. SERIOUSLY. STOP SAYING IT DOES.

dude please stop the kotaku "  Here's Your..." posts now before it gets out of hand. I dont know why but its one of the most obnoxious ways to title a post ever.

@Edin8999:  It all depends how much they paid to have it made. It may have sold about 200,000 on X-box (which like someone said is not too shabby for a new IP, single A, online-only FPS), but that doesn't figure in PC and PSN sales. While it may not have done gangbusters, it faired okay and I really doubt it they spent too much on it. Critically, the game did okay too- averaging around a 70.  It was an okay game, plain and simple. I'm surprised it's getting a sequel, but the original at least showed the developer was competent enough and had some good ideas.

(And to the person complaining about Bizarre Creations potentially getting canned: Blur sold about 500,000 copies, which for the money put in and for Activision's standards, may not have cut the mustard.)
Posted by MisterMouse

yeah I  was wondering if that frame rate was on my end

Fair point, if the game isn't being shown in its best light.

looks very much like halo...but shitty

Posted by yinstarrunner

This comment section disappoint me. It just goes to show how much emphasis gamers put on aesthetics. Section 8 may look a little like halo, but if you guys would actually take time to look, you'd understand that the game plays more like a battlefield or tribes game. I hate ignorance.

Posted by EvolveTom

Hey guys, I know it's kinda easy to harp on the game based on the first one... but eh, TimeGate's doing everything they can to make sure issues from the first are ironed out. We do still have a couple of interesting announcements coming :). Try not to judge the framerate there... we took the game out on a press tour a few weeks ago, and it ran really well. Not sure what's up in this vid. Anyway, give the game a chance hehe. TimeGate's one of the few devs left in the industry that's truly independent and doing well -- Prejudice is sort of the company's chance to deliver the shooter they want to make (and Tribes is actually a pretty good comparison :)

First one wasn't bad similar as Two Worlds, though neither were really that great either & don't think they need a sequel as it'd probably be better to have those dev teams working on something new versus sequel to average game that didn't have all that great ideas that were strong enough to hold attention for several sequels.

BAAAAAD Framerate

Posted by theberserker

lawsuit?

Posted by S0ndor

What is with that framerate?

Posted by PenguinDust

I really didn't know anyone played the first game.  Maybe it was popular overseas, and that was the reason to make another.  Either way, this looks like the first with bigger maps and mechs added to the line-up.

There were mechs in the first one. Sorta.

What's up with the fact that the burn in they used looked like shit? That's one of the coolest things in the game and it looked lame ....

Naw, it's enough Crackdown to not be HALO and plenty of HALO not to be confused with Crackdown. But then again ... those are both Microsoft published franchises. Oh man, you don't wanna piss of Microsoft.
