Makes me wish I still had an iPad. The first one just finally came out for Android and I'll probably buy it again there.

@brad should play Cursed Treasure 2 if he wants more awesome tower defense games.

I AM WITH YOU BRAD! PUMPED!

YEAH BOI! MORE TOWERS!

Posted by 49th

Yeah, mechs! I still need to beat the final boss of the first game, I haven't played for a while.

tower defence is the nickelback of video games

To what devices?

Yeah, uh, I was expecting them to mention the platforms at some point but... No dice.

iPad, I guess?

When and if this makes it to a non-Apple platform that I actually have access to, this will be great news! Great news indeed. Eventually.

Brad you are the only one that cares. The only one.

When is the updated pc version coming?

Posted by HammondofTexas

Looking forward to this. My iPad has become my favorite gaming device in the pre E3 / pre holiday release slump. Also, ARE THOSE MECHS?!?!?!

Posted by MormonWarrior

Man I can't even get past the third level in the original. Not sure what's so great about this game. It's hard to micromanage.

Edited by Wuddel

I love TD, but I do not know this game. Is it littered with microtransactions?

Posted by InsaneGenis

Beat the first one and then out of nowhere it lost all my progress. Ill probably reinstall it and play again.

Edited by AlwaysBeClothing

Is this like Dota? I kid, but with those microtransactions it might not be all that unsimilar!

One addiction isn't enough for Brad Shoemaker.

The first one (Kingdom Rush) is available to play online for free. I beat it without buying anything and it was super fun.

Posted by Bloodgraiv3

I'd really like this for anything but ios, but I know i'm going to have to wait for that to happen. =\

Posted by geirr

I loved the first one but when the micro-transactions got introduced it became more than a battle of wits and reflexes. Definitely looking forward to this one though.

They littered the first Kingdom Rush with microtransactions over time which felt a little shitty to me. I loved the "pure" feeling the game had at first. It's pretty much the best TD game I've ever played though so it's worth checking out the free flash version at least.

iOS first, then they'll work on a flash version. Nothing set in stone about Android just yet.

but its still a tower defense game

I've played many a TD game in my day, but now it's probably the most antiquated and boring formula for me. Any game design can be distilled to a single distance, but TD games more so than others, "Build and wait." Ironically, I'm interested to see what Plants vs Zombies 2 looks like - PvZ is on the dumbed-down side, but at least that makes it unique in the genre space.

how is that true at all. i can play bejeweled, frozen synapse, a bunch of telltale games and gemini rue on my iPad and xcom is coming to ipad soon. it's a valid platform with some great games on it

Just hoping here that it is a universal app...

Edited by FirebirdINF

I hope it's not TOO monetized, cause I felt that the heros and gems took the fun out of the first one a little. Still loved it, but just hate to feel like money is the solution to all my problems. If I want that, I go to work.

Play this instead of dota

Posted by MEATBALL

My, this game certainly has...um...some towers.

Posted by bartmax

iPad and iPhone. I'm a beta tester. Flash version following. Don't tell anyone I told you!

Posted by Klaimore

I'm ready!

Posted by Tordah

I'm still holding out for the Steam release/update of the first game.

Edited by TheMadBug

As much as I hate tower defence now, I still absolutely love Kingdom Rush. I think the ability to order around infantry, place re-enforcements and manage a hero (as well as the standard tower defence stuff) makes it so much more action packed rather than build and wait. Plus it has some decent personality.

The amount of in game transactions in the first one was tolerable, special heros and bonus gems that you can earn at a reasonable rate through normal play.

Would buy if had a droid version.

Tower Defense is the best genre

I agree and this, to me, was mostly due to the writing and the story. But Defender's Quest is also much much older. It came out long before its release on Steam.

Kingdom Rush came out before Defender's Quest.

The writing and story in DQ are fun, but I think the gameplay is better too. Though possibly just because DQ offers a twist on the genre, whereas KR is textbook tower defence.

I'm still trying to finish the first one. I have 90/95 stars in the game. Those two with the ice that those enemies can slide on really screw me up, and the one with the poison swamp with all the zombies coming out of it also screws me up. I hope I can beat them by next week! Right now I'm just easily destroying the final level over and over to get gems so I can buy those coin bags. Then one I have enough of those I'm gonna start a game, add a whole bunch of gold, and then get fully upgraded towers to start the first wave. That's my plan anyway. I hope it works.
