This looks pretty solid. Hope it's better than the last one.

Edit: nope missed.

Edit: Edit: Haha! I totally got it!

New voice is bad. I even liked conviction, but this series will never be at the peak it was last gen.

The Sixth Freedom is the right to see dead people

Posted by RazeEverything

Still don't understand why they didn't just start a new character with the new voice.

Posted by Abendlaender

*sigh* I tired of complaining about this game having nothing to do with Splinter Cell and being a rather generic 3rd person shooter. So i wont do it. For the best of all of us. Rest in piece Sam, rest in piece.

Posted by Elohym

According to Wikipedia the fifth freedom gives Mr. Fisher the right for his airline to fly between two foreign countries during flights while the flight originates or ends in his home country.

Man...Sam now sounds so generic. I kinda like how the looks their playing around with Sam, combed down hair when with Fourth Echelon, and the classic spiky hair look when on the mission.

Just the constant reminder of Ironside being retired, from the character that was pretty much all him, everything Sam speaks is still bugging me.

Posted by vikingdeath1

(Insert witty joke about new Sam's voice, involving time travel) right guys?

Posted by DougCL

voice is whatever. game looks awesome.

I really HATE mark & execute, they keep ruining what was the best game on Xbox... yes you don't have to use it but the game is built around that piece of crap, just watch their so-called "stealth" version of the game == pathetic!!!

ok back to Mark of the Ninja...

could not possibly be any less interested in a third-person-shooter-where-the-targets-are-brown-people-conspiracy-TANGODOWN-OSCARMIKE game

If this was a movie I would watch it, the whole Splinter Cell - Fifth Freedom angle is really cool and they have not really focused on it that much in the games. I also really liked Conviction and don't have a problem with the new voice, still I don't know if I'm going to play it or not.

Stealth games are evolving as a genre. Were finally moving away from skulking in shadows in crouch taking out every lightbulb in every room. I wasn't a huge fan of Conviction but that was mainly because I associated Splinter Cell with cool gadgets and espionage - walking around with a broken car mirror seemed silly to me.

Blacklist looks like it's at least coming back to those gadget roots. At least he has the suit and goggles. Hopefully we get all that stuff from the outset this time around. I'll wait and see before I judge how "bad" the stealth is, but at least everything else looks pretty solid.

Posted by MarkWahlberg

Fun Fact: Sam Fisher's voice sounds different because his head is so far up his own ass.

Posted by Dagbiker

Oh, good, I always wanted to know what it would be like if George Bush was Splinter Cell.

Posted by darkjester74

Michael Ironside, where art thou? :-(

Having said that, this game might actually be ok. Will wait and see how it pans out.

Posted by Bumpton

I actually think it looks kinda rad. Haven't played a SC game in a while. And voice acting sounded pretty good to me. No, it's not Ironside, but he seems like a good actor.

Posted by deltaalphabravo

This series used to be good when all you had was night vision, thermal vision and shadows.

There needs to be more nuns in this game... It's a PR move that's worked for other successful franchises!

Wow, Alex has upped his game. That joke was actually amusing.

Looks good. I enjoyed Conviction.

Yup, same here. I feel no need to SAVE MURRICA FROM THE TURBAN'ED PEOPLE for the umpteenth time.

Posted by RedRocketWestie

I'm very not sure about this game, but that was a decent trailer. I just don't know what I want (if anything) from another Splinter Cell game.

You actually go to different countries and fight different enemies..but ignorance is bliss I guess.

Man this just looks awful in pretty much every regard

Best way to defend americuh? STOP fucking with other countries ... so simple

Whatever man, it's still generally the same overdone war-on-terror theme, and aesthetically this looks very generic and flat. I'm not passing judgement on the game as I obviously haven't played it, just the art direction. Big step down from the other Splinter Cell games. Though I understand how people that really love the genre can't get enough of it. Not for me though.

Posted by Agent47

Normally I wouldn't be the one to knock on a game for being overly generic, but holy shit,I'm sorry but I agree with everyone 100%. I'm a hardcore fan of the series and Conviction was a nice change of pace, but honestly it's the same story, same stealth mechanics and the same enemies. Honestly if you kept the HUD the same from Conviction and called it a DLC what would be the fucking difference? Just left sleeping dogs lie Ubisoft,Splinter Cell series had it's fun let it rest.

Well then you have little to worry about then, as the "brown people" almost always get shoved aside after a couple of missions to focus on the Russians, the evil private military company, and/or the rogue American general that's gone too far. You know, white people.

Posted by Roger778

That was a pretty cool trailer.

As much as I miss Michael Ironside as the voice of Sam Fisher, I have to admit this new guy sounds pretty good. I'm looking forward to this game next year.

That was Fisher talking the whole time...

Oh that's totally fine then, those are highly original ideas.

I just don't care about modern military/covert ops settings at all anymore. It's trying way too hard to be edgy without having shit to say in terms of substance.

Posted by chriscalla

Do the facial animations seem a bit off? Look like wax figures come to life.

Posted by White

That monologue was terrible.

Posted by mewarmo990

Still can't get past the new voice. It's not that the acting sounds bad... but Sam is old now. The games and books span many years, and suddenly having a guy come in who sounds like he's in his 30s really messes with the image they had built up of the character, IMO.

Posted by ErisRon

I am Sam Fischer...and I've got a younger voice.

Wow, that sounds totally revolutionary. Anyways, the setting is the least of this game's worries. RIP Splinter Cell.

Posted by Xpgamer7

Wait wait...they're going to explain the meaning behind the term Splinter Cell? Hmm. I might have to pick this game up from a bargain bin in a few years.

Posted by TheGorilla

30 seconds in and I had to stop watching this trailer. If it's Sam-god-damn-Fisher it needs Sam-god-damn-Fisher's voice.

Posted by SleepyDoughnut

It's like Black Ops, except with night vision goggles.

Posted by ktynn

horrible

Posted by Eyz

Yeah! Sam Fisher's back!!

Posted by John1912

Wow, no Michael Ironsides!? No sale!

Edited by VikG

@Xpgamer7: It doesn't really need much explanation as it's pretty self evident, although I think it's usually used to describe terrorist or sleeper cells as in a "Splinter" away from the "Cell" which then becomes a "Splinter Cell"

edit: I realise that you were probably weren't serious, just trying to save your future self a trip to the bin to find games :-p

Posted by MeatSim

Like I said before they should have just made this new Sam Fisher a new character and have Micheal Ironside Fisher be your new Lambert.

Posted by WrenchNinja

I remember when this series was a stealth series. Chaos Theory, oh how I miss thee.

I never said anything about it being revolutionary?...oh wait your one of THOSE guys..I get it..carry on.

They pretty much just cut up that E3 trailer and threw in a couple other scenes. Think it looks pretty good, doubt its gonna run at that 60fps though.
