On February 20th Sony will announce that they just spent 13 thousand dollars to have an advertising firm use a high school intern to render a 30 second long video out in 3d studio max.

Excited. From the past year or so Sony has been really shaping up with the PS3, and while the Vita is lacking in having a healthy library, the actual hardware is very nice. As long as Sony has learned and are applying the right lessons, I'm in. We'll find out in a couple weeks.

I'm ready for a change. I do not know if I will buy into it, this ad bit fustrated me a little. But it was suppossed too.

If this is a baiting move to bluff Microsoft into making an announcement/confirming details in a way that better plays into SONY's outline it might be one of the smartest business moves they've made. There are some interesting discussions happening over at Microsoft HQ to be sure.

The important thing I hope Sony realises is that this console needs to be an investment for the future of the platform. Put more effort onto their online services and keep players in the ecosystem. I'm afraid Microsoft may already have come out on top this early with XBOX Live.

Man, the next few weeks are gonna be veeeeeeery interesting. If this is really going to be THE next-gen console reveal, I'm betting that MS is gonna sneak in their own teaser trailer perhaps within the same week as this event.

Sony needs this to be a massive success. The rest of the company isn't doing so well.

I am very interested to see what will be shown, but I have a feeling that it won't be revolutionary.

It will be an announcent for Gran Turismo 6, coming spring of 2020.

The hate for the controller is so fucking stupid. It's very comfortable and very distinct to the Playstation brand. I use it on my PC and prefer it over the 360 controller.

I thought they said they were waiting on Microsoft to move first on an announcement.

Or was it the other way around? I'm so confused...I'm just going to build a respectably powerful PC and call it good for now. And get a Wii U when Smash Bros comes out.

I don't care who outsells who. I was just talking about why being the first one out is an advantage, and that it is a good thing for whoever releases their console first because this generation has been so long. But apparently just using the word "winner" means you are, what? Promoting console war nonsense? I don't know.

So, what games are gonna launch for this? Not going to speculate on the third party stuff. Too early to tell for that I think, or we'll find out on the 20th.

Uncharted? LittleBigplanet? Ratchet and Clank? Resistance(not a fan of it but still)? Any new ips? Ports? Guerrilla's next game?

Lot of variables. Might make or break it, but that might really be up to the quality of the third party games.

To be honest, Uncharted 3 isn't that good looking graphically. Sure, it's pretty in motion, but that's about it. There's pop-in everywhere, terrible texture resolution, huge fps drops everywhere, and worst of all, it's all in 720p. Games from 2 years ago are able to easily top Uncharted 3 graphic-wise.

sadly enough you're prob right. on the bright side they could have announced a new peripheral for the vita.

I was about to say. If it were all about hardware sales, than the Wii would be the most celebrated console ever and have the biggest library. It isn't about some esoteric race to first: it's about making that fat money.

As to a new system, I really hope that's not it. I'd rather they announce at E3 or in 2014. We're finally seeing the PS3 coming into its own. If anything, I'd like some damned software announcements for the anaemic Vita.

With new hardware 'topping' Uncharted 3 visually shouldn't be much of a problem. In fact, Sony's biggest problem during this generation was their hardware was too expensive for too long and most of the third party exclusives they hang their hat on went multiplatform, and maybe stumbling a little on online/community stuff early on. They avoid that shit and they are sitting pretty.

If they do announce the next PlayStation, is there any possibility that it would be at PAX East in March? That would just be the cherry on top of my first PAX experience.

I'm excited to see what the reveal is. I think it's the PS4. Or the PSP2

I am so ready for a new system cycle. If the old idea if a cycle even fits anymore.

Sony's never been much of a teaser company, so if they're doing this, it sounds like it could only be the new console. I will bet all the Brad Bucks I have this doesn't turn out to be a Vita upgrade like people are saying.

Sony seems to be doing things right lately with the PS3 so I'd probably buy a PS4 at some point.
