Weird, a lot of dust mentions for a game that isn't linked to Eve...

That said, looks interesting. A Quick Look would be most appreciated, Brad mentioned the possibility during ILM, would love to see it happen.

I dont know if I am wanting another 4X...However...I can be convinced.

Games got the appearance of Civ in space but lacks its depth. A better combat system (it's turn based btw) and a tech tree with noticeably impactful upgrades (visually) would greatly improve the game. It can be an enjoyable time sink if you don't mind all the maps and stats.

Are you telling me that those who control the dust, controls the universe?

I love me some 4X

So he who controls the... What? Somebody already made this joke? Dang it!

This game is super fun but I suck so much balls at it!

The spice must flow.

I love 'em dust... and yep it's currency in a game. Game itself is awesome and a little hard at the beginning.

He tweeted a picture of his download bar of the game. Pretty sure we'll get one.

WE MUST CONTROL THE DUST.

You must lust the dust.

'Cause Ah can't call it spice, even here in th' Backwoods'

I wish the best for this game, as most any...but that is either a blatant rip of or blatant homage to Dune.

The power of the Doritos flavor dust will be mine!

That cat's eyes need to be blue.

So you leave to escape the "untied empire" just so you can go to war with others and become the new dominant empire somewhere else?

That is fucking stupid.

Posted by Scarabus

In case you didn't already know what 4X stands for.

I've been getting into Sins of a Solar Empire recently and this tickles the same nerves as that.

The DUST must flow?

Posted by DefaultProphet

Everything about this game screams depth but it's so shallow it's insane. Want to know how to win combat? Make the very middle of the road ship. Get equal amounts of all 3 defenses and Weapons and you'll steamroll everyone. It's absurd.

I've ben playing Endless Space for a few months now, and I have to say: it just keeps getting better with each update. I highly recommend it.

Is that...LaGuerta?

Edited by paulmako

No one has mentioned Sins of a Solar Empire yet? The narration-over-static-images that this trailer is doing (combined with, you know, all the space ships and planets) is hugely reminiscent of that game.

@paulmako:

I lerv Sins too, but the main difference between Sins and ES is that Sins is real-time, ES is turn-based. ES is also more like a Civ game with the more in-depth economy and political system... IN SPAAAAAAAACE, and also has a more robust ship customization system and "hero" units that you can either have at the helm of a fleet, or acting as an admin in planetary systems, among other things. I'm actually about to fire it up in a second, here.

If you want something that's more like Sins, you should check out Legends of Pegasus. Looks pretty awesome, too.

i'll only get this if it uses the music from Ascendancy

This is an excellent game with amazing music. If you like 4X's at all, I do recommend this game.

Is this my new daddy (read: Homeworld)?

It is definitely scratching my turn based space strategy itch. However it has a lot annoying features, which are putting me off.

- I find it real annoying that other races just travel through space controlled by me without having a diplomatic agreement with me. I can't travel through their space with declaring war with them, which is real broken in my view.

- When two or more ships are attacked in different systems I never have time to retreat all of them.

- When I have multiple fleets in system and it is attacked, I don't get to choose which fleet fight. My weakest fleet always gets hammered first and then strongest beats them with no trouble. This means I keep losing money, time and steps of keeping up with the more aggressive species.

-The diplomatic side don't seem that deep. I more or less use it to start and end wars.

I might just be playing the game wrong and/or missing some techs. If that is the case, please enlighten me so I ones more can conquer the universe.

I'm getting a JRPG like Star Ocean kinda vibe from the music and voice over in this trailer. Too bad it's nothing like that though.

Posted by Arrested_Developer

I want the game but I'm holding out just in case there is a steam summer sale.
