The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim E3 Gameplay Demo Part 1

The simple act of exploring, listening the beautiful orchestral score and ambient sounds of nature, makes for a better, richer, more immersive experience than most games I buy.

Oh my gosh ... I am so excited. Much improved over Oblivion.

I wonder why they're only putting this demo up now. did g4 have some kind of exclusive deal.

regardless, I am super hyped for this game.

it seems like they might be finally coming close to achieving a truly immersive open world that gives you a Legend of Zelda-like sense of wonder as you explore.

it doesn't hurt that I've always been way into nordic/germanic mythology, from the Eddas to the Lord of the Rings.

and it seems like they're going for a somewhat darker feel than Oblivion's rather boring world had. this seems like it could be even darker than Morrowind in terms of how the world feels (though hopefully less janky)

Is anyone else seeing weird video artifacting? It's almost like it's blinking to blurry momentarily.

I've seen footage of this area of the game three times now, and I was already completely sold on the game.
  
Yet so how Todd Howard, you sold me on it all over again.

The video compression made this look worse that it really is. Many things in this I really liked: The music was excellent, the horse riding looks more fluid and the environment looks engaging. I just wish they could give characters new walking animations...

Looks amazing, cant wait to play this and their 3rd person looks really good for once.

I would love it if this game actually delivers on all that it promises, as it is just the kind of thing that I want to play.  Huge fantasy world, freedom to play it my way etc.  Oblivion promised the same, and I just couldn't get into it.  It did so much, but all so very, very badly.  If they can come through with the goods this time, then I'll gladly give them another chance.

As someone posted in the Youtube comments for videos 2 & 3, I sure hope dragons don't become the new Oblivion gates.

This is the same video they did for QuakeCon. All Todd did was re-record the commentary.

I watched the quake con version of this. It's hilarious listening to the rabid quake fans screaming at Todd to kill everything XD

I've got the same problem with this that I did with Morrowind and Oblivion: The combat looks so dull to me. I usually make stealth/thief characters in those games to specifically avoid fighting.

I'll buy this game for the story and setting, but I can imagine the fights in it boring me witless. The slow motion deaths are unnecessary, too. Just get the fight done and dusted, thankyou very much.

Wow! The walking! The god damned walking! It does not look like the PC is hovering over the land anymore! He´s mother ducking walking!

seems pretty cool, but I am not a fan of the UI design elements for the health and mana I believe (the bars at the bottom of the screen during fights).

All these games looks so damn good this year, I cant wait

I could have sworn I read at some point that they "promised" that they were going to design the UI differently for the PC release. Some kind of different control scheme from the console one.

Yeah man, I can't wait to just explore the world. I definitely will not be fast travelling as much as I did in Oblivion or Fallout.

Giant Bomb really needs to iron out their video compression issues, both with the macro-blocking and jerky framerates. HD video is a big Premium Member selling point, but more often than not, I can find cleaner and smoother HD videos on Youtube.

This shouldn't still be happening a year in.

So.... did they take out blocking or did that dude just decide to use his meaty chest alone for defense?

This game will own my soul this fall and winter. Looks so good. And I think the new UI for loot, spells, weapons etc. is really great...one of the nicer improvements.

I honestly did not like Oblivion, I just couldn't get into it. This is looking much better though.

The video compression here is a little goofy. It looks nasty about every second for a few frames.

Bloody hell. They still have that dead-look to the NPCs, just like Fallout 3. To think they've learnt their lesson!

But it does look good in general. Wonder how this looks on a PC. Looking forward to playing this! :)

Even though I have seen this video several times before I'm still in love with this game.

so... the combat looks exactly the same as Oblivion?  I thought they were going to do something about that. 
 
I don;t care for the new menu system.  The setup is fine but the modern font and layout is offputting.
 
the bow looks like a very long and thin penis when equipped while walking around.  Okay I'm done now. 

Is this the 360 version, or a PC with a 360 controller plugged in?
