Having a time limit on the pre-order is a pretty shitty thing to do. Remember seeing something about the Signature Edition a while back, but was swamped with Uni work and Christmas stuff.

Needless to say, I didn't notice the deadline, plus I don't recall there ever being a deadline before!? (atleast not 3 whole months before release)

People saying their just going to pirate the game now is just another BS excuse. However, if you buy a standard copy at launch, then I say pirate the shit out of missing DLC. You've payed the same as everyone else. Either that or just don't buy the game or buy it used and be sure to let Bioware/EA know why you did it.

I wish people would stop crying about this.

Bioware were up front about the Signature Edition saying if you didn't pre-order before 11th January then you'd miss out on some free content. They made this absolutely clear at the time. If you didn't pre-order early enough and as a result have to pay for this content then more fool you.

I don't mind this particular tactic, along with in-box scratch-codes for things like day one DLC or access to online. Gives them a cut of the used game market that way.

The other day in Game i saw a used copy of NFS:HP for £38. Add another £10 on that for EA Online and that's £48 for a second hand title, you can pick it up brand new for less than that. Anything that helps prevent retailers gouging our eyes out with over-priced second hand games is good in my book.

Like an earlier poster said, the game itself will give plenty of hours of gameplay before you need to start worrying about DLC, hell i only just did Warden's Keep the other day and i've still not gone back and done the Stone Prisoner yet from the day one DLC from DA:O

...Oh and another thing. Complaining about pre-ordering early i rediculous. All pre-orders i've ever done, Game, HMV, PLAY.COM etc. have been no money up-front affairs. Is it really that difficult to change your mind and cancel a pre-order at a later date if you decide the game isn't for you? No money spent so no loss upon cancellation.

If you are that passionate about the game that you are upset about missing the extra content then you should have been passionate enough about the game to pre-order it before January 11th, 'nuff said.

@zaphoduk:

Some of us were busy last year, too busy to pay attention to all 3 million pre-order bonuses for every game coming out in 2011.

Luckily I pre-ordered the Signature Edition in early January. Free DLC for me!

I always thought the 'moral' point of DLC was for developers to be able to keep putting together content after the game is released instead of sitting on their asses, so how is launch day DLC justifiable?

I am kind of sick of Dragon Age II's bullshit. they cut off orders for the signature edition 3months prior to launch, then they make all this day 1 DLC available. If feels like the producers are believing their own hype and I do not know why.
I am going to wait for the game of the year edition, when its up on a weekend steam sale.

@Garfy:

 "Some of us were busy last year, too busy to pay attention to all 3 million pre-order bonuses for every game coming out in 2011. "

This excuse doesn't fly as you wouldn't be interested in 99.9% of those 3 million pre-orders. In reality, most people set their sights on a handful of releases per year and will probably swallow up any and all information that's out there on those titles. If Bioware want to recognise early adopters by giving them some free DLC then more power to them. If you were a true fan of Bioware and of Dragon Age, then you would be fully aware of the Signature Edition bonuses and would have got your pre-order sorted in time.

Bioware did nothing wrong here. There was nothing clandestine about what they did. They announced their intentions well in advance and you can't hold them accountable because they didn't come and personally place the announcement in your hand and force you to read it. It was even posted as a story on this very site for crying out loud, what more do you want?

This should be packaged into every copy of the game as standard. Fucking greedy cunts, they can go fuck themselves, either pack all your effort into one game, or move onto the next, do do stupid shit like this.

 Pre-ordered this before the cut of date. So naturally I am not complaining.

Will it make any difference whatsoever if he is on the disc? It's day one DLC. Either way you're getting dinged for $7.

Unless of course, you just don't buy it.

I'm not crazy about this whole pre-order business, but in case of games like these, I do not mind it much. I usually wait for some sort of ultimate/goty edition anyhow, before I really dive into it.

Also, that tune in the end, which seems to be the Dragon Age II theme, is a work of pure beauty. I think I'm in love.
EDIT: It's not the theme :( I hope it's at least somewhere in the game.

" So there I was, minding my own business, browsing Giantbomb. Suddenly, I noticed a very wittily titled Dragon Age 2 video had been uploaded while I was watching the Beyond Good and Evil HD quicklook. Being a huge Dragon Age fan, I clicked immediately, a little bewildered at the mention of EA demanding 7 of my dollars. Then I watched the video, the end.  And that's the story of how I cancelled my Dragon Age pre order, because announcing DLC before the game is even out is RIDICULOUSLY GREEDY "
And ironically by doing so you lost this DLC which you already had for free.

@Rolyatkcinmai:  Exactly.  Now if he gets suckered into playing it anyway (which he will) he will either have to buy the DLC or wait for the Ultimate edition which will come out a year from now.

Sure its pre-made DLC, but it was free to anyone who pre-ordered before January. The people who should be really peeved are people getting the game off Steam because the DA2 pre-order wasn't up in time on Steam.

I can't blame Bioware for trying to get people to pay for their game in Some way and actually recoup their production costs. If the quests are good (Like the Liara pack was for ME2) then I won't mind paying for it. It isn't horse armor.
