Is it bad I am actually really excited to see this movie?

SO MANY LEGO(S).

Edited by Video_Game_King

Wait, there's a LEGO movie? That sounds like a joke you'd make about how desperate Hollywood is for new ideas.

Oh god that was an 1980's space LEGO guy in the end. I'll likely never see this movie, but that was a kinda surprising reference, I don't think they've ever really referenced (nor reissued) any old sets before.

crap I had that one. Lost all the wheels. I appreciate the chewed up helmet in the clip. All our space helmets looked like that.

@video_game_king: Yeah but the cast sounds good enough where it could be great. But I really liked Clone High, 21 Jump Street, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs so take that how you will.

you should check the trailers ... it actually looks pretty good.

I really liked Clone High

I'm conflicted on this. I remember liking the humor quite a bit, but looking at some YouTube clips, the art style is off-puttingly flat. Clone High is a cubist nightmare.

Now that it's next gen it would be nice to see a lego game where there is some extra little textures on the lego pieces. In the games they are always glossy and shiny but in real life some of them are not really like that. It would also be nice to have a visual style like it was shot with tilt shift focus to drive home the fact that they are tiny little objects, also lego pieces that react with real physics when they break would be cool.

What surprises me about the game is that the environments look like they are built out of legos unlike previous Tt games. Hope they finally figured out a way to make all their levels like that for the following lego games.

Really love the 'jerky' movement style in the animation of the film, wish they'd emulate that in the game, but it doesn't look like it.

I am suuuuper stoked for this film.

This looks bat shit insane.

The trailer I saw for the movie was funny as hell, so I'll be sure to check this out.

I think it'd be hilarious if Batman was the only licensed character in the game, so I hope that's the case.

When do we get the movie adaptation of the Lego Game based on the Lego Movie?

Posted by ManicMyna

Sweet classic lego spaceman, hope there's some classic spaceships as well

Posted by Wesley_Hester

It would be great for me if that was Jeff doing the voiceover at the start of the trailer!

Posted by Shaanyboi

The movie looks incredible.

damn thats a lot of ports

Man... 8 different versions huh.

I'm excited for the movie because of Will Arnett as Batman. I think he's brilliant.

Posted by Tikicobra

The movie looks really great, especially if you're a fan of Legos, or at least someone who grew up with them.

Okay that Will Arnett Batman was pretty funny, The "first try" made me giggle with an embarrassing high pitch squeal like I was a teenage girl.

I was prepared to hate the movie, but I watched the trailer and it looks fucking hilarious.

Thanks Alex, it all makes sense now.

So I take it Lego has finally set in motion their 8-year plan for a hostile takeover of all intellectual property, then...

I mean, at a certain level of exposure, we just won't be interested in any more video games OR movies where the characters don't break into pieces in a humorous fashion, right?

Posted by Gildermershina

I am almost as excited about this movie as I was about The Muppets. The game might be cool too, but mostly because it's a game of a movie of a toy featuring licensed toy DC characters. It's sort of ludicrous.

no stop

If the game does better than the movie, and they make a sequel will it be called "The Lego Movie Game Movie 2?"

And the game based on that movie would be called "The Lego Movie Game Movie 2 Game?"

"Experience a video game unlike any other"

Not including the 20 or so other TT Lego games?

Posted by Lausebub

I'm super stoked about the movie itself! The voice cast is just fantastic, especially Batman. (Will Arnett)

Yeah!

What just happened?

Edited by Cybexx

So the interesting thing I find about this game is that TT Games made the decision back with the original LEGO Star Wars to make the minifigs more flexible than their plastic versions allowed because if they obeyed the laws of minifig joints the lightsaber animations were very limited and awkward.

But The LEGO Movie, despite being CG, decided to go for a stop motion look and thus the Minifigs mostly just use their normal joint rotations (though I think they fudge it a bit with the shoulders).

So I find it interesting that TT Games has changed their animation to match the stop motion style for their game adaption.

Were is the novelization of The Lego Movie Videogame?

Edited by ddensel

Loved the movie trailer, not too big on the games though. Wonder if any UFO sets will make an appearance?

Posted by kmg90

Releasing on 8 platforms... I wonder if TT Games is getting any help for getting all the versions running smoothly?
