The Running Of The Lanterns: Finale...?

Some general tension but I don't get the, "I've lost respect for..." comments. I'm assuming not everyone gets into a rage state while playing a videogame, but it's a natural reaction for a lot of people, and for a lot of people they get over it instantly like Ryan. I get where he's coming from though, he probably has gay friends, or probably made a pact to himself never to say something like that and then it not only slips out, but to a large audience. The Brad ragequit at the end was nothing, it was actually a good way to end it.

Fuck you Brad, I hope they do breaking brad every week until E3

@bobsakamano I don't hate Ryan for saying it, but it becomes more than just a word when it's being shouted at you accompanied with fists and boots. Why not walk up to every ethnicity you meet on the street this week and call them by their derogatory term. It's just a word right? I'm sure you'll be fine.

The apology and edit were enough. It was a moment of frustration, but that word isn't something you should just throw about. I don't think any less of Ryan for just showing he's capable of mistakes.

Also, that whole run was hilarious, mainly because I recognise the intense rage you only get when real friends get pissed off with each other. You don't hold back when you know they can take it.

In a fit of rage Ryan said something wrong and immediately owned up to it and genuinely apologized... End of story and hopefully controversy...

Poor Ryan. He fucked up, and apologized immediately. I feel sorry for the sick pit in his stomach he must be feeling. We've all had that, and man is it awful.

It only shocks me more because, oddly, I thought Ryan was gay several years ago. I dunno why. No judgement, no good or bad if he was or wasn't, and no reason to really think it, it was just something that struck me once. Maybe it was the whole bear thing.

I would love to have a sound board of just Ryan yelling "FUCK" over and over again.

Well said. I am myself gay, but I can understand that the word can slip out, especially with older folk, when frustrated. It's unfortunate, but I'm sure it will change over time, like the use of the n-word. I'm not holding anything against Ryan since he apologized, but the people saying "it's just a word" should think what kind of message that word carries, how it's been used in the past to dehumanize millions of people, and how it still affects people who it's targeted at.

So this is the so-called train wreck I've been hearing about.

It holds as much weight as any ethnic slur, and if you think people are just being over sensitive about those words, then you're an idiot.

It's not about being righteous and rushing for the moral high ground, its about acknowledging Ryan said something he shouldn't, accepting his apology and just getting on with enjoying the site.

Well said the both of you. I have to admit, even for myself (and I am definitely an old dude), that it's probably only the last 2-3 years that I've recognized that word as equal to a racial slur. Again, Ryan owned up to it, apologized, and everyone should move on.

Classy move Mr. Davis... You recognized what you said and apologized with everything in you. As someone who has homosexual family and friends who I care for I can respect someone who has the wherewithal to accept responsibility for a mistake and speak to anyone he may have offended. It happens to the best Ryan, you were no exception, as a close knit community I know we will move on and get back to normal quickly.

ANYWAY, to get back to normal, these lantern runs are insane. I myself have never tried this mode because it looks immensely frustrating. I can undesrstand the frustration, especially Brads hillarious rage quit to end it. You guys should have just played Trials... A much less infuriating game.

A slip of a fucking tongue, a word that every single person on this forum has said but hasn't been caught saying, people here probably use the word with their friends and you wanna judge someone? it's why i dislike coming to the forums here because of all the hypocrites and sheltered people. He apologized and he clearly felt horrible for saying it so how about he just get over it? It's ok for brad to act like a angry child but a slip of the word that meant nothing sends people into super politically correct mode.

That was brilliant to watch and to be honest Ryan apologising was all that was needed. I'm sure we have all lashed out when angry.

Brad quitting out at the end was AMAZING! Just when I thought the final lantern run couldn't get any better people are ripping off mics in silent rage. That is videogames. That's how I know them. Everyone who has played sofa co-op knows that feeling.

Wish I could have seen this live, was soo awesome to watch. I love me some Lantern run.
