And yet still no Daily Awesomenauts. :(

Can't wait

Man, I've been playing a lot of Diablo 3 lately and the first thing I noticed about the video background image is that icon for Combat Trait is the same as WD's Acid Cloud.

Thanks for getting this up, stupid Twitch archive isn't working for me and missed it live.

Posted by Razorlution

I wonder if this will replace DoTA for Brad.

I really want to see Brad play Awesomenauts now that he's so into MOBAs. I feel like the last time it was brought up around him he said "I didn't know that was a MOBA" which made me kind of sad.

Most of the skill icons are lifted straight from Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, or Warcraft 3/WoW, respectively.

Abathur is among my favourite Blizzard characters. He's such a great personality in Heart of the Swarm, and that voice is something special. I'm glad he made it in, and it feels like they really personified him in a fun, interesting way; perhaps part of the reason they included him was because they felt they could make an interesting hero from him.

maybe this will be the one to get me into moebahs...

Looks like a great casual MOBA for anyone looking to enter the genre, but finds the current offerings to have too steep of a learning curve. I really enjoy the visuals of the game. It has all the polish you would expect from a studio like Blizzard. It also does some cool thing with the varying map objectives, but they seem like they will get repetitive over time. That said, I find the game itself to be rather boring looking as far as player engagement and pacing. I don't think this game is for me, but it seems to fill a much needed niche within the often-unforgiving MOBA genre.

I don't like seeing mechanics like the mount system because its inclusion is clearly to add a revenue stream and little more. Blizzard will have mounts you can buy. That's it. It's the only real reason for that mechanics existence over a flat run speed.

This video just reminded me of how much I hate Blizzard's art design.

Having a fucking tank as a character is a pretty inspired choice though, have to give them that.

Posted by Pirsig

I'd like to see them try awesomenauts on a UPF or something. As someone who's played it for quite some time now though, the MM is terrible, mostly due to lack of players, especially in higher leagues. Also, games are hosted on one of the player's computer's, which makes lag a huge issue, and hiboxes have needed fixing for forever, many skills hit further than the visuals and all circular graphics are actually square hitboxes. Yet I keep playing hoping it will get better...

I've been looking forward to this for a while, I figure this is my entry into this genre. It's cool to see Brad stream a Moba I want to watch. Awesome. It sure does look like an Alpha though! It looks a little rough. Fun though. Wish the heroes were cheaper and I hope the "Everyone is playing the same 5 dudes" thing stops happening because seriously that's lame.

Edited by Backstabuuu

Crispy's mistaken, League of Legends has all chat. It's disabled by default, you have to go into the options and enable it, and like Brad said, it's for the best.

Edited by Hockeymask27

I wish brad would play league like once just so he knows. He makes too many assumptions.

this looks too much like league. don't like the aesthetic

I hope you do know that Blizzard reuses alot of its icons throughout its games, and some of the same icons can illustrate different things. Just look at WoW and Warcraft 3 for instance. It's called "Cohesiveness".

Posted by Mister_Avatar

@hockeymask27: Yeah there is a reason it's more popular than DOTA and it isn't because it's got a "lower skill cap." I don't care what people play as long as they're happy, but it would be nice to see the game that had 17.3 MILLION people watch worlds and 2.3m every week for LCS talked about in a way that didn't make them sound like the video game equivalent of Smashmouth fans.

Blizzard owns the rights for the names, Brad...

Edited by LarryDavis

@razorlution: Nah, he's been super elitist about how Dota's overly convoluted mechanics obviously make it better than other "dumbed down" MOBAs. And this is the epitome of that.

@tzarstefan: Yeah, he often seems to forget that Dota is some weirdo hacked-together mess made by amateurs.

League looks too much like Warcraft 3 then, because this artstyle is Warcraft as fuck.

Edited by Rotnac

I wonder if this game is the reason (or at least one of) why a proper PvP never came to life in Diablo 3.

Also it's a good thing theres still another Starcraft 2 expansion to be released. Having two different "HOTS" out at the same time could be pretty confusing in a conversation in kind of the same way as Xbox 1 and Xbox One, except not exactly.

Posted by soimadeanaccount

Not sure how I feel about the having to pay or grind to unlock heroes, also it looks like talents choices are exclusive when you level? So it seems possible to sort of build yourself into a corner. Items in DotA is similar, but at least there's the possible to buy and sell as the game goes on as inefficient as it maybe.

Each map having its own gimmicks and merc camps for real pushing seems to bring a lot of diversion into the game which can be both good and bad I guess

Woah woah woah guys, if Brad is gonna play ANY other MOBA don't you think it should be the one that also happens to be the most played game IN THE WORLD, League of Legends? I think it would do him some good since he seems to make wildly inaccurate statements and generally talk down towards a game he's never played before.

Posted by indieslaw

Minute 9.

This might be the MOBA for me. Just a casual, casual easy-thing.

Posted by Morningstar

I don't feel the artstyle at all for some reason.

Too bad that Tyrael ghost can only move in the direction it was going when Brad died.

Edited by Sooty

I am really interested in trying this, everything looks good aside from the UI which doesn't seem to fit in very well with the overall aesthetic.

I love that Blizzard re-use a lot of icons for abilities, so many callbacks to World of Warcraft and other games. They must have the strongest, most nostalgic universe(s) to draw from in all of gaming right now.

You deserve a hug.

I play a little Dota now and again, I'm certainly not seriously into these types of games but I'm not feeling this.

Meh, throw another vote, from me, to Awesomenauts. LoL would make cold, calculated sense I suppose. Chase that popular vote dollar. But Awesomenauts is different from the DotA/LoL/HotS mold and, therefore, more interesting to me.

Posted by ReTarDedFisHy

@joshua1prince19212: Yeah, was hoping it would try to look a little bit more different than LoL. At least it has cool different map/modes/objectives and I think that's the main thing that separates it from the rest. If it played and looked more like Dota 2 or HoN I could get into it, but then again Custom game modes for Dota 2 are coming soon. They're obviously aiming for the casual market so it makes sense for them to shape it into the LoL format.

I can see this being a success financially, but I wonder how much of an impact it will have in the competitive scene. It's certainly streamlined and given the Blizzard treatment, which is great for newcomers & people who just want casual play.

My instinct is that this will end up like Super Smash Bros. is in the fighting scene. There are going to be people that take it very seriously, while a lot of people play it just for fun.

Where's the youtube version? It's impossible to watch in the GB player

Posted by TheVGamer

I can't wait to play the released version of this in 2017!

Posted by R3DT1D3

Looks pretty shallow. I doubt many people will enjoy playing it more than a month or two but I guess that's why there's micro transactions to use the sunk cost method to keep people in.

Posted by MrMazz

This looks like the moba for me.

Posted by Huey2k2

Brads decision making sometimes is so bad.

Posted by Astrophyle

Wow, this is a hell of an alpha build. I'm not a moba player, but I might dabble in this a little bit when it comes out in earnest.

Yeah I get that, but I don't understand why we are requesting Brad to play a pretty dead game in favor of a game he likes to pretend he knows a lot about and is Dota's biggest competitor. All playing Awesomenauts would do at this point is make a couple people happy.

I really wish Awesomenauts would get more love in general ): Such a fun game, but nobody talks about it.

Posted by MrBubbles

This looks interesting, I think I'll give it a try.

Posted by KelpPlankton

This really seems to strip out all the stuff I don't like or find too confusing about MOBAs and just focuses on the combat and objectives. Very cool. Hope I can give it a try soon.

Oh brad....

Posted by slyspider

At this point, with the opinion of DOTA on GB, I'd rather brad and them stay away from League. With comments I've heard them make, mainly Brad, showing off ignorance to the game I would hate to see them try and play it. Mind you I'm not bitter about it, League and DOTA do different things poorly and amazingly and I'm pretty ignorant to DOTA as I only spent like 60 or so hours in it where as I'm passing 3,000 in League. Hearing comments like 'In league there is no last hitting' 'it's really for kids' 'you pay to win' makes me cry on the inside though
