Come on Vinny, another survival game?

Posted by Ohvee

I really wish I had gotten in on the kickstarter for this.

This looks quite stylish.

The box under the bed near the end of the QL will forever be a mystery.

Looks neat. People complain about too many survival games, but there still aren't a lot of them compared to other genres. There's still room to put out a good survival game. I'd like to play one without a ton of psycho ass other humans killing me. I'd totally play this. Even other single player survival games don't ever make you feel alone. This tries to do that. I'm interested.

I make a long dark every morning.

I have no issue with survival based video games it's just that they never seem that fun to play. At least this one looks nice.

Don't watch it then?

It's not like we are spoilt for choice with AAA games, they are all coming out Oct/Nov time.

looks ok I guess, but I just hate games that force you to keep eating constantly, the whole eating needs part should be mellower imo

I would like one of these games with some sort of story line - and this game looks better than most of "them". So sure, go Greenlight!

The ridiculous calorie burn and rapid rate at which stuff breaks would drive me crazy. Stuff like that is too gamey and restrictive without being fun.

This is the second survival game that has really piqued my interest. The first was Miasmata. I really liked the mapping mechanic in that, but I didn't care so much for most of the rest of it.

Actually, I played Fallout NV with the hunger, thirst, rest mechanics on, but it was really easy to satisfy those in that. This seems sort of like a whole game dedicated to a more hardcore version of that, with a nice visual style to go along with it. I'll probably check it out eventually.

You seem to be confused on the meaning of Good Times.

Dehydrated and surrounded by snow? If you cant eat the snow in this to quench thirst, that would be silly.

edit: After the 5th mispronunciation of toque, I am now screaming at my screen.

It's Took or Touk. Like Ouya, it's Touk.

I feel like I would like this genre, but every game so far just seems..... unfinished

My exact feelings on Miasmata. I personally think that if that game was just finding the cure and mapping the island without that stupid beast/cat, it would be perfect.

As far as this game, it looks like a game I would have a lot of fun with.

It's got a lil'bit of that Wind Waker style Alex. Lil'bit...

Where can I get my hands on this?

Looks good, I'd definitely try it.

Hearing Americans mispronounce "toque" is really making my afternoon.

Why would it be pronounced like this.

Man words are dumb.

A fool of a Toque.

Sweet, Groundhog Day reference

And inside of that, under the second definition, we have this word. The description specifically says Canadian-style, and having lived in Canada my entire life, I can safely say that it's pronounced this way. Not toke.

I laughed so hard when he dropped the meat. OOPS

There's a lot of these survival games, but I really like the artstyle of this one and the mechanics which are currently there seem pretty solid. And there doesn't appear to be much stuff glitching around everywhere, just clean interfaces and interactions. I'll keep an eye on it.

I second that. Isn't the draw of games like this supposed to be that you can explore? I don't know who would enjoy an exploration game being this punishing and restrictive

Every single one of these games that Vinny and Alex QL'd have looked thoroughly unentertaining to me. It's funny how people used to talk about how big publishers stifle creativity, but the indie scene clones just as much if not more so. One game (Day Z) gets popular and suddenly the market is choked with dozens of these things in various states of "unfinishedness".

Never realized toque is spelled wrong.

Posted by Larmer

had me laughing at "toke"

Toque is the Canadian word for beanie.

Posted by DeathMetalDan

@the_nubster: I laughed at how they were both pronouncing it too. I'm originally from Northern New York, right on the border of Canada and I've always known them as "tooks".

Edited by das9000

I'm probably going to get a lot of shit for this but ... if you're going to demo a survival game, it might be good to genuinely try and survive (ie.pick up the venison, don't skip any buildings, search all the boxes etc) rather than run around like an idiot. If you say that's boring, then yeah you might be right, but that's what these games are like, which leads to another question, are these videos intended to be demos or entertainment pieces?

PS. It might be cool if you spawned a dead body in the place you died. As true in real life as it is in video games.

Frank and Harold need their own wacky TV show where they get into crazy situations. Can you picture it?

Posted by BoneChompski

Two-kuh.

Love the french words.

I'm glad that games, after scaring us for ages with the (post)apocalypse, are now intent on teaching us how to survive it.

Wait, did I say glad? Actually, I meant none of them interest me at all.
